Re: Ruckstell Rear End

You will note that were the filler plug the cast has a hole drilled in a boss so is thicker there. Like I said above, you don't want to go much larger then I suggested, you would only have a few...

Re: Manifold Decking

Sagging exhaust manifolds, partly can be blamed on lack of gland rings. Except for a very very short window, that is why Ford installed them.

Re: Manifold Decking

More often when people say to get the two surfaced is because two different manifolds are joined back together or for example; a new exhaust manifold is installed creating two different levels...

Re: Head gasket

The pinging could also be the pistons hitting the head.

Re: Head gasket

I think it would be easier to flycut the recess above the pistons. Not much meat on the tops of the pistons to cut them shorter. Most people would be trying to increase compression and adjusting the...

Re: Cleaning a block

As I said in my other post; hot tanking will only clean grease oil and paint not rust. Some shops can lower the block into the tank leaving the babbitt above the liquid.

Re: how do I put an oil filter syson my 1928 tudor fordr

Done wrong, hot tanking will remove the babbitt and pollute the hot tank (shop people don's seem to like that!). It can be done, ask if they can support the block with the babbitt above the liquid. ...

Re: Main and rod bearing adjustment ?

I can't give a mileage to check not knowing how the engine was setup in the first place, babbitt used, clearances etc, but if you are going to check the mains and rods I would suggest pulling the...

Re: Rear Brake Drum: Loose or Tight to Hub?

The drum should be swedged to the hub and not come off the car without the hub. Unlike later cars/trucks, there is no locating screw to keep the drum clocked to the hub so if it comes off the hub,...

Re: Head gasket

I read the questions several times and still missed the "to lower" compression.

Re: Cast iron brake drums

Just as a heads up; unless you have the correct tooling, installing cast iron drums is not a do it your self home project. If you have not done so yet, I suggest googling "fordbarn; cast iron drums" ...

This not the section to ask car questions, this section is for questions about the site and it's use. You need to ask on the Late V8 forum or place and ad in the wanted section. Few look here and...

Re: Ford Licensing Article in Model "A" News

I read most of the story and maybe I missed it, but sellers like Snyder's license the products so they can use the Ford parts numbering system. Probably most all the items sold at many of the A and T...

Re: timing cover, side cover bolt list....

Looks about right. Just make sure the bolt under the timer is head up not nut up. It can short out the timer if installed the wrong way.

Re: Teflon EZ Steer Kit what do you think?

And too repeat, no amount of fancy material will compensated for steering arm balls that are too worn.

Re: Ford Blocks 24 Stud 59, 69 and 79

This needs to be asked on the Early V8 forum which cover up to 1953, the flat head era. If the engines are 1954 (overhead valve) up the late V8 would be the section to ask in. This section is for...

Re: Model T Sparkplugs

If the engines have been rebuilt (and even if it has not), use something like 10-30 detergent oil. There is no need for 30W non-detergent, you have to change it just as often no matter what oil is...

Pg 249
insert carrier support through bracket, locking in its place with castle nut and cotter pin.

Re: Sidemount Spare Installation Problem

Is there any thing in the Service Bulletins that would back up leaving the castle nuts loose in those locations?
