Re: valve chamber cover

You're not wrong there. Getting the clamp aligned and tightened on a RHD is a pig of a job! But on a positive note, the starter motors come out easily.

Re: Vacuum Wipers - Frustration

Great timing. I went through my old Trico a few weeks ago, cleaning it up & re greasing it to no avail. Now I'm feeling motivated about going into it again.

Laughed about the comment about getting...

Re: Coughed, sputtered and stalled

Check your flow of petrol to the carb. Could be a partial blockage.

I've had similar issues which trned out to be crud in the tank partialy blocking the line. If I let the carb refill it would...

Re: Christchurch NZ Earthquake

Hi Ted.

To be honest, in the 30 odd years I lived in Auckland I never felt one, but in the 10 years I've been in Wellington (dragged down here by my wife) I've felt plenty. I guess it depends on...

Re: Christchurch NZ Earthquake

Jeff, I'm in Wellington and we get lots of (so far) small earthquakes each year. We're on the Pacific ring of fire, where there are a series of techtonic plates meeting. Parts of Asia are on the same...

Re: Fill your tanks now!

I'm not a happy lad. I'm paying over NZD $2.05/ litre to fill the Falcon. Well over a hundred a tank now.

Still, not all bad, we're not running ethanol yet. :)

Re: LA/ San Fran Stopover /UK Trip (Not Model A )

If I was flying Qantas, I'd be more worried about engine detonation :)

I think the chances of anything funny with an Air NZ flight would be nil.

My kids are flying out to Tokyo on Sunday,...

Re: LA/ San Fran Stopover /UK Trip (Not Model A )

I take it you're flying Air NZ. The inflight entertainment system has gotten very good on the long haul flights. I don't think your teens will be bored.

Re: What would you do?

Yeah in laws! Don't get me going. Seeing my Roadster was restored by my Dad years ago, the only people I let drive it are myself, my brother & the garage when it goes in for it's road worthyness...

Re: Head bolts too short - followup

To be honest I put on a Synyder 5.5 late last year with replacement grade 8 studs that are a bit short, similar to the photos in the previous string about the 6.0 head.

In this case I think it's...

Re: Tom Wesenberg (It's time)

When I was a boy I had my beloved Hornby HO scale electric set. I was very jealous of one of my friends who had a Marklin set that puffed smoke, if you put a special oil into the smoke stack. Very...

Re: Air Filters RHD- Follow Up

The Wellington branch of the VVC did a run over the firebreak roads on the western hills behind Upper Hutt, a few months ago. The first time I had the Roadster on really bad metal & clay tracks. I...

Re: I Love to drive my A..How about you???

There are times that I have a love-hate affair with my Roadster when I go out for a drive. But on a hot summers day, with the top down & the wife & kids onboard, the grin factor is incredible.

Re: Flywheel Surface

I can vouch for James comments about having the fly wheel resurfaced. I had a bad clutch judder years ago on a Cortina that replacing the clutch plate & pressure plate several times couldn't get rid...

Re: What made you a "Ford" guy?

Came from hospital when I was born in my Dad's '30 Model A Roadster. When my parents divorced & Mum remarried, my step father had a '64 Cortina GT. Both cars are in my garage now. One of my brothers...
