I have used antifreeze in all of my cars for 58 years ... old one, Model As and modern ... 700,000 miles

NEVER had any problems caused by the antifreeze NEVER.


Never had one freeze either!

I had one of the first Lion Head III 6.5 to 1 (4 spark plugs)(first version of III) 1.7 intakes rubbed on head had to relieve area.


The later ones were changed to clear 1.7s.


No problem...

When you pull the transmission be sure to check the throw out bearing.

If it is stamped "Aetna" ... these are famous for going bad. As I remember they "seize up" when bearing gets warm.

Yes that was my point.


If 2000 miles was good in 1928 then 500 miles is over kill for a sealed bearing. :)


I just give it a little to lube the hub.

On a stock engine: The tube MUST be below the oil level to prevent the crankcase pressure from forcing the oil out the rear main.


That is the whole purpose of the tube ...

Actually as Bob Keenan's question in post #1 is worded, does his modified engine use the dip tube?

Does THIS modified seal modification remove the tube since the slinger is no longer involved?

It would be much easier to identify part if the vendor had used a Ford part number to begin with.

The 27XX series is in the parking brake area when using Ford part numbers.
