Re: Why not a new casting

I really don’t want to speak for Tod but I don’t think he’s online much to do so for himself. He has said in the past he is a one man band and hasn’t found a good candidate that can help him. In...

Re: USPS damage in shipping

I always get USPS MOs cashed at my bank and have yet to have an issue of any kind. Easy to do and I can get cash instantly or have the funds deposited into my checking account.

Re: Grease fitting size for 1937 ford spindles

Is there a photo in the new 40 Ford book that shows a spindle with 1/8 NPT threads?

Re: Can someone go to downtown Chicago to verify a VIN for me?

Yes, there is a lockdown order in effect, the suggestions are to stay at home except for travel such as work, doctor visits, groceries and other essentials and also limiting the number in groups...

Re: 1932 sport coupe

I’d be concerned whether or not the radius of those frames matched the Sport Coupe cowl. For dimensions check Speedway Motors online listings, they give measurements.

Re: 1932 sport coupe

Don’t know for sure but those may be fabricated by Trautwein. Trautwein makes a quality frame but there may be issues with rust starting from the inside. Apparently that is caused by acid not being...

Re: spindles

As rich b said, yes they can be used on a Model A axle, but be advised that the ‘37-‘41’s (also known as round backs) use a king pin 5 1/2” long and the ‘42-‘48 spindles (square back) take a 6” long...

Re: Different Key ways??

Would you check your pitman arm for me? There will be a letter forged on it, an A denotes a Passenger Car pitman and a B would be for a Commercial Car with its shorter length cowl. To correct for the...

Re: Mallory sbc to 8BA 4 lobe cam issues

Chris, I believe your Voltmaster was introduced in the late 60s, early 70s and it was the replacement for a number of other Mallory coils. Previously there was another coil designated as the...

Re: Mallory sbc to 8BA 4 lobe cam issues

Mallory distributors will have an M in the model designation, as in YCM if it is an original MagSpark version, and there will also be a small round tag that says MagSpark. But I think any Mallory...

Re: Check out this period foto 32 Phaeton

Very Tangled is correct, Union Oil Company staged the photo and it was used in an ad promoting their Motoreze oil. The same photo appeared in Ford Life magazine, May-June, 1974 slightly cropped and...

Re: Rockwell of Ford head stud nuts

When I worked at EMD, GM’s former locomotive division, a friend gave me a Lufkin divider that was a bit rusty. I took it to the plating department and they gave it a bath in something and it looked...

Re: Rockwell of Ford head stud nuts

I bet the plating shop is concerned with hydrogen embrittlement and failure of the nuts, give then a call russcc, and see what they say.

Re: Cam Timing question for the experts on Isky 1007B

The first character is a lower case L and the part number should read L100B for the often copied Litterio L100, in this case the blower grind with the B suffix.

Re: Cam Timing question for the experts on Isky 1007B

On the L100B the B is for blower grind, valve timing is different for less overlap.

I couldn’t have said it better Ron Pilger. You assessment is right on, but too many find it easier to beef about not getting a part when they want it. Tooling up for something and then having it...

Re: Junior Johnson Passes On

Junior was a lot of things, but I seriously doubt he was involved with meth. Is there proof, or at least a link to this insinuation?

Re: Ebay sales tax in place

Early on in this thread Phil Swanson made it clear that this is not something cooked up by a state or eBay. It came about as a result of a suit brought by retailers trying to level the playing field...
