Re: Banger rod knock

You should be able to cruise at 50 all day with stock running gear, as long as the car is sound. Especially the motor. Older babbit + constant 50mph = a bad day. Every motor has their own smooth spot...

Re: Air filter fire

I too have seen a Model A catch fire because of gas building up in an Air Maze. They're worthless to me. A club member once told me, "A Model A with an Air Maze is like running a mile and trying to...

Re: Snyders Inserted Rods

We have a motor from Rich at AER in our sedan. Very happy with it. He was my first choice, just wanted to know a little about these rods and if they might work a little better. Thanks!

Planning on building a decent touring motor for my 29 Special Coupe. Going to use Snyders pistons, ss valves, 1 piece guides, self locking adj lifters, B cam, counterweights, the only thing I can't...

Re: Model A with a computer ?

I do side work for a guy who builds f100 steering boxes and hydraulic brakes kits for the model a, and he just sold a slant that he restored and he put a back up camera in it. I'd think they would be...

Re: Over-center clutch pedal spring ?

I've talked to a few people and even driven a car with a s10 clutch in it. You can push the pedal to the floor with just 2 fingers. And no chatter at all.

Re: Increase Speed on AA

I know the model a school bus "Huff n Puff" has some sort of Mitchell overdrive unit. You might call Mitchell and ask if they offer anything for the AA. Don't expect it to be cheap though.

Re: Most potential power out of the Model A engine ?

I'd talk to Ron Kelley about building an engine with power. He bought my grandpa's old AA and built an engine for it that he then pulled a flatbed trailer with his speedster on it wherever he went...

Re: Brakes Dragging In Reverse.

I was told they were 46-48 Ford brakes. And Cape, I know it can be done but as long as they keep working right I'll stick with them until I do a ground up and change a lot of other things that I want...

Re: Brakes Dragging In Reverse.

If I had it my way I'd put the mechanical brakes back on. But this was done before we bought the car so I just kind of have to deal with it. I guess I'll switch it back once it comes times to do a...

Adjusting brakes by heat

I've heard of people adjusting their brakes according to how hot they get after a drive. How hot should a set of cast irons drums get after a good 5 mile drive?

Re: New Guy

Foxfire, I think what he means by "shroud" is actually the radiator shell since he said the stone guard hides the cracks.
