Re: Patina makes this too good to restore?

It's amazing that after all these years...and being a big truck...that the body isn't all dented and torn

I wouldn't have the guts to restore it. I'd leave it cosmetically as is and go...

Re: Frame serial number to obtain a title?

Every state has different laws about what you are trying to do. Make sure you get advice ONLY from those who have done what you want to do in NEW JERSEY.

You should probably research at New...

Re: Need to move front spring across

Congrats! The satisfaction that goes with solving a tough problem makes up for the frustration experienced along the way.

Re: Synthetic 680

Why so angry and degrading? You've got some good inf, but there are ways to share it without trying to make all here feel like they are butt stupid and should have already known what you know.

Re: Max Compression Ratio

I don't know the answer, but I would think it would depend on babbitt vs inserts, counter weighted crank vs stock, lightened flywheel vs stock, cam grind (especially overlap), valve size, port work,...

Re: Reliability

I'm not a purist, but I don't see anything on your list that would make the car appreciably more dependable.

I would insure ALL systems are in top condition. Not only the engine as PC/SR has...

Re: Model A prices...going which way?

I think we can take a guess at the typical difference between asking and selling prices. Bob's MEDIAN data (average adjusted for inflation) shows a pretty steady $18-20k average asking price over...

Re: Model A prices...going which way?

Thanks, Bob :)

Pretty clear that A asking prices have remained pretty constant in terms of real dollars.

Re: Model A prices...going which way?

I think for the purposes of this thread (are prices of Model As going up, down, or staying the same), Bob's data is helpful.

If in 2000 the average ASKING price was $12,862, adjusting for...

Re: Model A prices...going which way?

Several have answered this way, but you need to factor in inflation. In 1999 if a Model cost $10,000 it would take $15,400 in today's dollars to buy the same car.

Re: Can the TDC pin be off by 90 Degrees?

Was it backfiring before you changed the manifolds?

If not, just changing the manifolds didn't change the timing...Perhaps you changed/adjusted something else at the same time?

Re: Restored Nebraska Model "A" Is junk

That may be the case for NC. For WA, all you would need is that chassis title. No affidavit, no description of how you assembled it, no certification of roadworthiness, no DMV (DOL in Washington)...

This is done all the time. There are several companies that specialize in this. You "sell" your car to one of these...
