Re: Procedure for check bearing clearance
Thanks, that makes it clear.
Got me thinking, can anyone explain this, and maybe how one goes about installing a shim pack in the first place?
How does a good engine builder typically decide (or...

Procedure for check bearing clearance
Would anyone have a link to or a suggestion on proper procedure for checking my bearing clearances?
I have the pan off and I’m replacing gaskets and timing/ crank gears.
The timing gear had two...

Re: EOG's 1928 Model A Pickup
Subscribe to the the monthly “banger” thread over on the H.A.M.B. for some interesting model A/B discussions.
There’s some knowledgeable guys who post on it, me not being one of them(knowledgeable)....

If you only need a can or two, otherwise it’s...

Re: Perch Pin Play...
Model A axles are cheap, I’d get a new one instead of trying to add a bushing.
Although, it’s possible it’s not the axle but the spring perch that’s been worn.
If not torqued properly, it happens.

Just thinking here..
Bad idea on keeping stock ignition with a new 6:1 head?
I have the head already.
I’d like to get a B distributor eventually and elimate the manual adjustment, but finding...

Re: Early V8 axle under Model A front end
Don’t know how I forgot this.. too much to remember
33-36 axles are all the same as Randy states.
I’d still suggest using 32 spindles over the model A.
One more thing, you’re going to need a...

Re: Early V8 axle under Model A front end
35 creates problems as stated, add modifying the wishbone to the list.
Basically, it’s not a direct swap.
If you use a 32-34 axle, I suggest using the spindles as well.
There’s not much room for...

Re: Removing rear spring
This is how I do it and don’t use a spring spreader.
Assemble/disassemble in place.
Much easier to (un)install the main leaf then add/remove the rest.
Still requires caution.

Re: best head puller
Loosen the nuts till there about1/8” above the head then crank the engine.
Should break loose.
I use 2 of the eyelets in the plug holes with an engine hoist to pull the head.
Wood shims and a...
