Arrow 49-53 Ford flathead partial piston ring set standard

Need partial set of 1949-53 Ford piston rings, 4 groove,standard bore 3 1/16
Actually need just one oil ring in the 4th groove. 46-48 ford should also fit.
What do you have?

8BA crankshaft in usable condition

Need an 8BA flathead crankshaft ,any year 49-52 will fit. Standard journals or reground crank OK.what do you have

Update....Dropped the pan and turned out to be connecting rod problem.

Forgot to mention, first car was a 41 Chevy club coupe. The first “real car” was a 49 Ford flathead !

If youíre using repro condenser and points they are junk. I had problems on initial start up because of weak spark. Bought NORS condenser and point and it started right up.

Iím 81 and still work in the garage just about every day. Been restoring cars for 50 years and my daughters say it keeps me young. Life would be awful boring without old fords....amen

Arrow Removing oil pan on 42-48 ford car

Have to remove the oil pan on 51 flathead with truck 8RT oil pan on my 46 Ford coupe.
Do I have to jack the front of the engine to remove the pan or is there enough clearance ?
At my age, want to...

Heck, I thought I was the youngest ! At 81 still doing nearly as much as I used to do however this 46 Ford Iím working on is testing my patience.

I have a cast iron 2 groove wide belt crank pulley used on 48-52 ford flathead trucks. These pulleys are pressed steel but never saw a cast iron one. What were they used on ??? If I remember...

On a 48-52 8RT truck oil pan with the large clean out can I access the oil pump pick up tube without dropping the pan ?
Traced my knocking noise to the oil pan and suspect an interference problem....

Jim, today checked oil pan with stethoscope and definitely coming from there. Pulled plug wires each cylinder and no difference. I know all my rod/main clearances are good as well as oil pressure....

Hope mine is something easy like fuel pump. How did you find weak pressure valve on fuel pump ? Did you have low oil pressure ?

Jim, I used the truck oil pan and will check that next for dents etc. Used a stethoscope today and my noise is loud near the fuel pump. Have an NOS AC pump, changed the diaphragm, and a repro push...
