I had a problem sort like that with a SBF. It would start but after shutting it down would hardly turn it over with breaker bar. Torn it down and had 1 rod cap on backwards. New brg and good to go.

instead of ordering a heat riser valve spacer, why not take the valve disc out and use the empty valve as a spacer. then everything will look original

when I did my '41 fordor I covered everything from the rear bumper to the top of the firewall, including the wheel wells. sure cut road noise.

Not an expert on Merc's but looks pretty stock and complete. As for drivers side mirrors,
I've found them pretty much useless on 41'-48 FOMOCO's. they vibrate terrible and can't really see much....

when you "think" you have everything lined up, take a picture of the front, dead on. You'll be surprised at what shows up that you don't see with only your eyes. It's almost impossible to see both...

I would think any good upholstery shop would do it. you'd be only paying for the labor.actually if it's only seats you can do it yourself. Hog rings, pull tight and keep everything straight.
