JR would be a good choice. I have a couple carbs he’s rebuilt and have had no problems. I also have called him for help on non carb related issues and he has helped me out. Good guy.

Mine fell off first try using a nut driver to tighten it. Put it back on and really tightened it down with socket and ratchet. Hasn’t come off. Also put on a piece of wire from filter to radiator...

Those temps do seem high. You may want to verify the temperatures with a cooking thermometer or an IR gun. My temp gauge reads high.

I was thinking (dangerous)of removing the spring without removing the axle, just dropping it some. Tom, I have read your article. Very helpful. I should have all the chains, spreader, and clamps...
