Re: 1932 ford roadster tack rail help

The material inside the metal channel that retained the tacks was originally very dense pressed water proof paper. The best substitute available is a special flexible black plastic tacking strip...

Re: 1937 ford running boards question.

Yes, and they all have the holes in the steel foundation running along near the bottom edge (but not in the rubber covering) for installation of the stainless steel moldings should your '37 have them.

Re: 1932 Ford "Commercial" Rad Cap?

2935ford,

Given the depth of the skirt on the cap and the diameter of the center section of the underside, my guess is Model A gas cap.

Re: 1932 Ford "Commercial" Rad Cap?

To detour a bit, perhaps an even rarer '32 cap is the black-painted gas cap for commercial vehicles and big trucks. Of course you can just paint one of the stainless- steel-clad passenger car caps...

Re: 1932 Ford "Commercial" Rad Cap?

Not "the" cap given the underside. Despite over 100,000 of the B-8100-B caps having been produced, they are scarce today and have a habit of walking away on their own from unattended '32 commercial...

Re: 1935 Ford Tudor Deluxe - Wheel Colour

Go to paintref.com and select 1935 Ford. Therein you will find bright apple green, the striping color and the current paint codes of DuPont, PPG, etc. for the paint. Medium apple green is not...

Re: Best electric harness on the market??

Beware of any where "one size fits several" as there is almost no interchangeability of main wiring harnesses in the the mid-'thirties. Even within a model year the job #1 harness and last job...

Re: 21 stud flathead

Obviously the heads are post-production service parts and therefore aren't helpful in identifying the model year of the block except to suggest that when it was rebuilt it was equipped with domed-top...

Re: Adjusting mechanical brakes on 36 ford car

The two controls (pedal and hand brake) are independent of one another. If all four wheels are adjusted properly and all four brake rods are adjusted to the correct position of the arms on the brake...

Re: Best electric harness on the market??

While I have not tried one recently, the '32 V8 Bauer/Harris main wiring harness is made incorrectly. The left side spark wire conduits for '32s came in two forms with one where the inside diameter...

Re: 1936 PU original colors, purple and yellow?

V8COOPMAN,
I think you jumped the gun in pouncing on Bruce's comment about fleet paint colors. Demo Yellow was an RPO color choice on '36 commercial vehicles and big trucks. Its presence therefor...

Re: 1932 open car mirror

The Vintique reproduction standard phaeton/roadster inside rear view mirror is accurate except that it is polished stainless steel rather than the original black paint finish.

Re: '32 woodie - holes in cowl

The big holes where your arrows were for an aftermarket antenna, as stated above. Sheldon is correct as to the purpose of the two small holes just behind the lip at the front of the cowl.

Re: Looking for a Top Kit for my 1936 Phaeton

Originally Ford used two suppliers for the top material (nearly everything bought from outside suppliers was multiple sourced and still is) and the colors varied by supplier. One was noticeably more...

Re: Drake 40 dlx headlamp rims (bezels)

It seems like the prototype part of the development process gets left out. Without a trial run and prove out that the part fits and functions as intended, it's a shot in the dark and a leap of faith...

Re: Drake 40 dlx headlamp rims (bezels)

A&L has been a great source for small, hard to find goodies for '32-'34s over the years, such as the horn data plates mentioned by Nick and while it lasted, hard core radiator shell and cowl lacing,...

Re: Looking for a Top Kit for my 1936 Phaeton

At LeBaron Bonney that material was known as T-14, but I'm sure that was just their own number and not a number used in the trade.

Jon,

You beat me to it.
