Re: 1949 F1 Regulator Problem
Thanks....I'll have help on it next Monday, so I'll tackle it then. I ordered the new regulator this morning and it's promised for Friday. I'll let you know how it goes.

Re: 1949 F1 Regulator Problem
What do you think? If I disconnected the divider at the bottom, then disconnected the regulator, would the entire assembly lower far enough to remove the window clips so I could push the window up...

Re: 1949 F1 Regulator Problem
Thanks....I tried to do that yesterday, but couldn't get anything to budge....seems to be locked up somehow. I'll try again today. The only other option I can think of is to drill out the gear,...

Re: Water pump comparisons
Thanks, guys. Looks like I'll just have to try new pumps and have the radiator checked and/or recored, although I assumed it was done at the time of the restoration and I can't find any cool spots...

Re: Water pump comparisons
Thank you, all, for the helpful input. The thing is, I AM wanting to put a bandaid on a problem, rather than do a complete teardown and rebuild. This engine has only about 1000 miles on it after a...

Water pump comparisons
I've read several threads related to the benefits of the newer model water pumps, or Skip's rebuilt pumps, but I'm wondering if anyone has actually done a flow rate comparison of the various options...

Re: V8 Bell Housing Starter End Cap
Well, the chili can fit perfectly, and it's even nice and shiny.....but I would still prefer the original cap if anyone runs across one. Thanks.

Re: Elusive Block Crack?
Thanks, everyone, for the advice. At this point I think I'll just see if I can check the passages for scale and sand and remove as much as I can of any I find, then reinstall the head and go for a...

Now that's something I never heard of! I have an O'Reillys about 65 miles away and I'll check with them.

Re: Elusive Block Crack?
Thanks, everyone. All good advice, but I have to think the bubbles in the coolant indicate a crack somewhere. The radiator seems to be fine, in fact I believe it was recored just before I bought...

Re: Elusive Block Crack?
I've tried sealers twice and the head was torqued to factory specs (more than the commonly recommended 50#. Not losing coolant. Plugs and combustion chambers show no signs of extraordinary...

Elusive Block Crack?

Re: Head gaskets
Very interesting....I checked the Best side and their gaskets are all the restricted type, so guess that's the way I'll go.

Thanks, 19Fordy. I read everything twice, but there's still no answer to why one or the other style gasket would be preferable. Still baffled.
