Re: Off Set Crank Grinding
I've had a few 4 1/8" strokers done by Dennis at Fowler Engines in Columbus. Fowler has his own crank grinding machine and the guy that runs it is extremely good - and the machine is high quality...

Re: Off Set Crank Grinding
It depends on the crankshaft, desired stroke, process used, etc.. The most typical example in our Flathead world is taking a late Mercury 4" stroke crankshaft - which has 2.138 journals and offset...

Re: What is the price of a rebuilt flathead??
Hey Ronnie - interesting note on the low number heads that you have. The funny thing is that they must not have made all the number sequential - or they would have had to make more than 225 - 250...

Re: Pulling engine
Not me - I pull the engine with the trans and put it back in the same way. Using a side-mount engine adapter, this makes it easy to put the clutch in, align the tranny and bolt it up, test the...

Re: Engine teaser: Getting closer
Okay boys . . . who wants to be the first to try this . . . and NOT get divorced or be living in your Van down by the river? I'm ready to hear the results! LOL

Re: Master Cylinder Bracket
That is honorable . . . if you plan to buy nothing from them (appreciate the honesty), then I greatly respect your decision.
After all, us car-guys have been coming up with solutions to problems...

Re: Master Cylinder Bracket
Just to be clear on my side . . . I'm not telling you to go spend thousands on a complete kit from Early V8 Garage. BUT - you might learn a few things in seeing what he has to offer. You might buy...

Re: Engine teaser: Getting closer
Shot peen it a bit (not sand blast) . . . then throw it outside for the winter! Hell, maybe even sprinkle some salt on it at XMas . . :)

Re: What is the price of a rebuilt flathead??
Given who you had build it and what it now is . . . that is a fair price. You'd have spent a lot more with some of the boys on the Westest Coast - and I'd place bets that the engine you have is a...

Re: Lifter & Spring Questions
Now Ron - you said 'Flathead', not 'Flathead Ford' . . . so here is a link to the Flathead Cadillac I built for Bonneville - 650HP on Alky, more with 10% pop, but we couldn't keep the head gaskets...

Re: What is the price of a rebuilt flathead??
Well . . . as somebody who has the good fortune (or lunacy!) to understand both, the answer is in the details and expectations:
1) Original or Repop: Nobody can claim to know the exact number of...

Re: Master Cylinder Bracket
So . . . after all this discussion . . . I still say . . . talk to Dennis Lacy. :) You'll be glad you did. Why - because it ALL matters . . . the mechanical ratios, the master cylinder bore size,...

Re: Lifter & Spring Questions
I don't think you'll have a problem with those lifters . . . also, they're already broken in with the cam in the engine, so I'd use them. Make sure they go back in the same lifter bores.
Given...

Re: 33 Rear Main Leak
As CAS3 noted, if you're going to do a plastigauge check in the car, you need to support the crankshaft (put a bit of pressure on it to hold it up) - otherwise the weight of it will crush the...

Re: 33 Rear Main Leak
That white rubber tube and the brass fitting are something that somebody installed - it is not original. The original tube was metal. I can't see it being an issue, unless they threaded the brass...

Re: My "new" 260 inch Merc is a BEAST!
Sounds perfect! To me, there is nothing like the startup and driving of a new engine - is like HotRod Christmas. Glad you're happy with a well running flathead . . . now go have some fun.

Re: T170 trans with stock 1932 ford K member ??
I like that setup - have you already managed to build the transmission and get the associated machine work done? If so, would love to know who you had rework the main shaft?
Also, I'm sure you're...

Hey David - take a closer look on his first post - it appears to have the triangular vent on the bottom/front of the block.

Re: Master Cylinder Bracket
They have a whole range of parts and services related to putting hydraulic brakes on a 32 - 34 Ford. Given the wide range of options and associated prices, the best thing is to contract Dennis Lacy...

Re: Master Cylinder Bracket
You might want to checkout what Early Ford V8 Garage - supplies. I like Dennis Lacy's approach of the creation of a new clutch/brake pedal shaft (longer than stock), which he then hangs a pivot arm...

Re: 32 sedan patch panels any good ones made?
Hey Frank - you have it about right. A lot of his stuff in one-off custom . . . so unless he has the car/body in his mitts, he really can't make the panel or ensure that it fits.
Then, there is...
