Re: 1935 ford Fordor Slantback rear seat frame pic

Here is a picture of a '34 seat bottom with the formed wire eyes indicated.

Picture was originally posted by @31aford via @JSeery in response to a question I had.

Re: Floor shift in 53 f-100

I put a Fenton floor shift conversion on one forty or fifty years ago, when it was a pretty common occurrence. Probably more work to find a kit now-a-days than to do the install.

I would also much appreciate a copy of the chart if anyone is willing to share.

Re: Drum brake ID

Another clue; the F-1 bolt pattern is square and clocked to rotate the backing plates rearward. This results in the plates being side specific.

Re: 51 Merc brakes replace

I learned a long time ago that reusing brake springs will result in come-backs. The springs cycle every time the brakes are applied and eventually they will fatigue and either let the brakes hang or...

Re: Cutting down 42 to 48 ford axles for a 40 ford

When the subject of axles come up I always have to think about all the "useless at the time" axles that were used for tent stakes (think circus size tents).

Re: Can't separate axle shaft from carrier

Maybe saw most of the axle off and try the hammer again; maybe losing some force in the "spring" of the full axle length. If no help, it will at least be easier to fit in a press.

Re: brake problem

Maybe try it without the hose and remote reservoir hooked up.

Re: brake problem

What kind of Bendix brakes?

What adjustment procedure are you using?

Anchor pin adjusted to center the shoes?

Adjust the brakes tight and see where the pedal goes.

Re: door panels 48 coupe

Clamp the panel in place and use a gizmo like this to locate the clip hole; then make the holes in the panel at the correct offset. I try to set them so the panel hangs from the clips.

Re: ***Need help on BRAKES - 53 Merc Monterey***

Maybe it's just me; but brakes pulling to one side would certainly require removing all four of the drums to see the true condition of the components.

10 year old new parts are not new anymore;...

Re: 1950 F3 rear axle and brake drawings

Sorry, I first post the wrong breakdown pictures.

The brakes are the '42-'48 Lockheed style.

Re: 1 Fly wheel 2 PP thread bad

I believe the hole is now too big to repair using a 5/16" heli-coil, anyway.

Re: Reed Switch Fuel Tank Sending Unit Question

I saved some gauges from sweepers we scrapped when I was working for an Elgin dealer. Similar panels were used in Mack MB and White Compact trucks. Also have seen them in industrial trucks and saw a...

Re: Preserving Patina

Really can't imagine why people want to make an old faded, rusty car, etc car shiny. It's not like you are going to park it back out in a field for a few more decades; it won't deteriorate instantly.

Re: Reed Switch Fuel Tank Sending Unit Question

Instead of using an extra gauge under the dash; you could use one of these SW truck gauges with a '40 face or decal in the dash. The gauges work with a regular SW sender and should work with 240-33...
