Re: Hub cap painting advice

For those with poor painting abilities try vinyl sheet (from a sign shop, lots of colors); stick a piece on a letter and cut out the perimeter with a SHARP utility knife or razor blade, easy to fix...

Re: F-1 Wiring Harness Covering

Eagle 43 is almost correct in stating his wiring is covered with "electrical tape". Remember this is a Cdn truck and not likely covered with the loom that others have suggested. My M3 wiring was...

Re: black light

Yes it is a "black light" problem; at this age the numerals no longer respond to the black light emitted from the glass globes over the light bulbs. You usually find this out after you have the dash...

Re: 49 ford 4 door wing window seals

Page 226 of the service manual, division bar has to be removed, no rivets need to be drilled out; not a five minute job; expect it to still leak after replacement.

Re: Shoebox pulling a Teardrop

New test to-day, temp is up to 80 deg, up 10 from the previous trip, wind speed and direction same as previous test day, same route (about 25 miles). Portion of the trip that was 200 deg the other...

Re: Shoebox pulling a Teardrop

Just for more info; stock carb and distributor, new vac advance and it works, a little extra advance and starts to ping so is set to factory timing mark. I believe bug screens are a issue; so is a...

Re: Shoebox pulling a Teardrop

Honing was done, a little coarse I thought. Yes I did the runs in overdrive, supposed to be 30 C next couple of days and will try in straight thru ratio. The size of the aftermarket fan kind of...

Shoebox pulling a Teardrop

First the question; the car handles the trailer fine but overheating is the problem, so is this doable or is it just too much to expect out of this car? Background is; 8ba with OD, 3.88 rear end. The...

Re: Intake Valve not seating

An alternate backwoods method of setting valve lash; I am not suggesting it is a good idea but it does work. I did my 8BA's this way, a real long day to do a complete engine; ton of time and...

Re: Plugs and wires

1951 8ba (Cdn M-3) with cleanout plate drain plug is the same as a 1950 car (Cdn 8ba) drain plug.

Re: 1951 Victoria rear ring/pinion replacement

My 50 Meteor (with OD) had a toasted rear end, I was unable to determine what it was but I would call it a Ford special. Could not find parts source so tried to find alternate diff, many fit under...

Re: driveshaft yoke

No problem doing the return, Shoebox Central is good. Still a PIA as I searched for a long time to get the NOS. A search on this forum might get you to a replacement (think it was old powerglide...

Re: driveshaft yoke

This is a guess based on my experience with this yoke; very poorly made and not to dimension. I got one from Chris at Shoebox Central, the shaft was way under spec for diameter, way to sloppy a fit...

Re: Holley 94 Rebuild - Something Strange

Attached is a pic I took to keep me from getting mixed up on reassembly; I believe this was from a undisturbed carb. The three sided one is used on the brass seat, the four sided on the pump. The...

Your "star" matches my "turtle". Which truck do you think would be quicker?

Re: Holy Crap! Kindergarten kids stamped my block. What do I have here?

I have 2 CDN 239 engines, original to a 50 Meteor and a 51 Mercury M-3. To my knowledge there was no serial number stamped on these blocks; only the production dates. If the engine date matched the...

Re: Shoebox door gap

I was able to do a little twisting of the upper(glass) portion of my 50 4 door, wooden blocks and a heavy shoulder. If you try and get that little bit at the bottom out you will chase the problem to...

Re: Oil Filter Info. Needed

1950 & 1951 8BA (Canadian engines, civilian) no restrictors and one hole only in both. I believe they are unmolested engines.

Re: Need info on 1949-50 instrument cluster ?

There are many ways to cure this problem, just be sure you have done something to cure the problem BEFORE you put the dash back together. I removed the purple lenses and left the bulbs in place. The...

Re: 1950 Ford car slip yoke exposure

The math works such that the yoke is past the inside of the bushing about 1/4"; probably enough to work. I think the driveshaft I have is about 3/4" too short (perhaps was on a station wagon...

Re: 1950 Ford car slip yoke exposure

Thanks; so you are telling me you think the driveshaft is too short? This car is 100% assembled and driving when pic was taken. Appreciate your help.

1950 Ford car slip yoke exposure

This car did not come with a driveshaft, I "found" one and installed it and now am wondering if it is too short. The pic shows I have about 1-3/4" of the yoke barrel out of the transmission...

Can someone confirm that the pinion setting is set by crush washer or is it set by shims in this diff. Thanks for the help.
