I've checked my chassis parts book and the `55 & `56 wagon's are the same. If the rhd was different, it would be listed. Like scicala said, I can't think of a reason a RHD wagon would have a...

As alt63bird suggested ~ If you look at your data plate again, it says the 8-cylinder engine number (probably a consecutive number with the two-digit engine code at the beginning?) is stamped on...

Can you do a vacuum/pressure check on both of the lines going to the
vacuum advance diaphragm? Something is causing it to go to ATDC.
I've checked vacuum at idle and there is none (500 ~ 550 rpm) ...

Just wondering ~ has the problem been found with the spark retarding (with vacuum connected ) at idle??
