Re: Off shore adjustable lifters

My first thought also was that they looked like Mike Davidson's.

48 truck engine

Has anyone else run across across a 48 V-8 truck engine with studs rather than bolts? I just picked up an engine out of a 48 F-6 2 ton truck. Engine looks like it was never apart. Has standard...

Re: 1936 aluminum heads dome/no dome

I have a pair of cast iron heads for domed pistons. They are 68-6049B and 68-6050B. I can find no reference to them in the 35/36 V-8 book. And the two do not have exactly the same combustion chamber...

Re: Water pump comparisons

I've been running stock pumps on my engine for well over 20 years with an original 39 radiator. No cooling problems. But like Kube, my engine was built properly.

Re: Camshaft Movement

Thrust is toward the block, rather than the cover.

Re: Hood Ornament for 39 Deluxe

I bought one years ago and it broke after a year. Total junk.

Re: Block drain for 8RT

It is not unusual for that drain hole to get clogged so the water will not drain properly.

Re: Copper coat gasket spray.

I'm still a believer in using gaskets as they are. They are designed to seal without added sealers. The only time I use any kind of sealant ( and then only a spot or two) is when I need to keep a...

Re: cam install, won't turn all the way! help again please

Did the cam go in fairly easily or did you have to force it in? Odd that it rotates and then stops. That would sound like a bad tooth somewhere.

Re: 59 a Crankshaft front seal

If the rope seal works with the spirals, why wouldn't the neoprene?

Re: Will 59 A-B flywheel fit an 8BA ?

The actual flywheel is different and not interchangeable between the two.

Re: 59 a Crankshaft front seal

If the sealing surface is in good shape, the one piece seal will work just fine on the 59 pulley. I've done it many times with no leakage problems. The small grooves are not a problem.

Re: 8BA Valve Guide Removal

Raise the valve by lifting on the retainer, give the top of the valve a rap and the keepers should fall out. Pull the valve out and pound the guide down.

Re: Holley 94 on 1953 Ford

The fact that it runs with the idle screws out 1/2 turn indicates that fuel is getting into the engine from somewhere other than the idle circuit. I would not suspect jets.
