1947 Trunk Handle Broke

I'm pretty sure this is a repo handle assembly. It has been tight to turn as long as I've had the car (it was unlocked). The other day the handle popped off as I was trying to open the trunk. Any...

47 Fordor rear quarter pop-out windows

Is there any adjustments in the pivots for these windows? One side of mine is high on the rear side. Adjusting the top or bottom pivot would help to drop it down which would allow it to function...

32 firewall differences?

Was told there's an early and late. I have a couple that have differences on the driver's side.

Re: Inner vs Outer Rear Hub Drums

Read through the Vern Tardel Brake book and it appears that all the drums are interchangeable.

Inner vs Outer Rear Hub Drums

My 47 Sedan needs a new rear drum. It has the outer hubs but I have a good set of drums with the inner hub. Are these by chance interchangeable?

Re: Should I convert from 6 volts to 12 volts

Then I guess I'm not fully understanding the polarity issue which is why I asked the question. I understand the '47 is positive ground. If it's being jumped by another vehicle with a 12-volt negative...

6-Volt Jump Start

I posted this on the 12-volt conversion thread but thought this might be better. As someone that just picked up a restored '47 Sedan that is still 6-volt, my concern was jump starting if away from...

Re: Should I convert from 6 volts to 12 volts

As someone that just picked up a restored '47 Sedan that is still 6-volt, my concern was the jump starting if away from home. What's the proper procedure with the positive ground 6-volt system if...

Re: Operating a Columbia Rearend

So what happens if the overdrive is engaged in 3rd gear and then I were to shift to 2nd without clicking the switch off and disengaging? With SoCal freeway traffic, we can be going 70mph and then...

Re: Operating a Columbia Rearend

Thanks for the info. I'm going to order some of the manuals. I drove it on the freeway for the first time today. It needs the overdrive, seems to be pretty low geared, I would estimate 4:11 or higher.

Operating a Columbia Rearend

The '47 Sedan I just bought has a Columbia in it with all the right controls. The guy I got it from didn't use the car much and wasn't super clear on how it operates. I've had a '56 F100 with the...

1947 Fordor Rear Door Striker

Not sure the proper name but I'm looking for the small piece that goes on the front door that allows the rear door safety pin to prevent the rear door opening

New Family Ride

This followed me home last week. Frame off restoration done about 10 years ago and has only had 2,000 miles put on it since. I've had several early Fords but this is the first one with a Flathead....

Re: 34 3-Window Seat Adjuster Rods?

Thanks for the link and info. I'll most likely end up making a set.

Re: 34 3-Window Seat Adjuster Rods?

Thanks for the photo and info. Now I need to try to find a set. Looks like Ford was cutting costs from 1933 to 1934, the '34-up looks very plain compared to the '33.

34 3-Window Seat Adjuster Rods?

Does anyone have a photo of the connection rods between the seat handle and the seat tracks? Are they just spring steel? Is the handle just a plain lever? I thought mine was a homemade set-up but...

Re: Best Practical Upgrades to Stock 47 Sedan?

Thanks, SoCalCoupe. Speedway actually just released self-energizing drum brakes that bolt on and use the stock drums as an alternative to the Lincolns. May look into those a little deeper.

Best Practical Upgrades to Stock 47 Sedan?

I just picked up a '47 Fordor that was a body-off restoration. Wasn't looking for one but the deal was too good to pass up. Since it will be driven in SoCal traffic and not country roads, what would...

Re: Are These Model A Parts?

Thanks Bob. That's what first came to mind with #1 and #2 but wasn't sure. I'm assuming they mount flat side up under the cowl lip. Do they not match side to side? Are these the correct ones for '29?

Are These Model A Parts?

Been sorting through some boxes that were collected decades ago by my dad for my 29 RPU. Most I have figured out but there a couple that I'm not sure about. There have been a few 56 F100 parts mixed...
