Re: Stalls When Braking

I had the same problem with my car when I first put it on the road. It turns out that the Idle jet was too small (or blocked) and I could not get it to idle slow enough so my engine was using the...

Re: Newby with a question - Castor angle

I agree with the bent wishbone However, you are way out. Check everything. you will probably find several things that are worn/bent and need help. Also, you may want to try a rear panhard rod. I put...

Re: After Sandblastig...What have you found...

+2 Brent. Phosphoric acid works great. It stops the rust and gives the paint (primer) a good base. I use a product called Ospho, But there are others. Be careful some metal preps are mostly water...

Battery- Again

I'm looking for a new battery, My old size 1 does not hold a charge. The two I'm considering are the tractor supply 6 volt and the Duracell 6 volt. Both batteries have been discussed here. The...

Slow leak

I have a slow leak in a couple of tires. I'm using regular aftermarket tubes, ( not the original type with the metal valve stems). Who sells the best tubes? What tubes should I use if I want to avoid...

Re: Drive across USA

The chances of finding an older car where someone is willing to let you drive it across the country are very slim. However, I have seen ads from people looking for someone to drive their modern car...

Re: poor idle driving me nuttier

It sounds to me like your idle circuit is very lean. You're idling fast because you're using the main jets to idle. If the air corrector jet on the Idle jet is all the way in and it makes little or...

Re: Engine pans

I don't run engine pans. They get in the way of my air cleaner. I know most people say to use them however my car has no problems without them. Even on the hottest days, my car does not overheat. My...

Re: Cos of A Restoration

I'll go with George, $90,000.00. You cannot do a complete restoration on a model A for under $100,000.00 if you count your time as being worth more than a nickel an hour.

Re: Front spring replacement advice

I agree with aermotor. yes, your spring looks bad. Also your spring perch and shackles look worn. The shocks are doing nothing because the axle isn't moving.

Re: Help - My A is barely running

If it was a blocked exhaust why would the trouble start when the car was being driven, wouldn't it have been blocked from the time the car started? Did you try opening the GAV while the car was...

What alloy of aluminum is the radiator made of? If the radiator needs to be reworked you'll want to know this.

Re: Steering question

You may need to make an adjustable drag link. My car was off and the only way to center it was to make an adjustable drag link. This will help your car feel more stable because the steering box is...

Re: Rear end Lub Question

The 85-140wt oil will work fine if it is a good brand. Just remember a bad oil is better than no oil. The no lub leakless water pump is a nice addition as well.

Re: How Fast Will It Go?

Don't know what my max speed is. never been there, never will. My counter balanced engine likes speeds below 45 and so do my brakes. The engine in these cars will definitely out run the brakes.

Re: Rebuilt B engine has no power dilema

It sounds to me like your cam timing is off. Are the cam and crank gears properly aligned? You may want to pull the head and check that the valves open and close when they should in relation to the...

Re: Carburetor Float valves

I had nothing but trouble with the new viton tipped( and old style) float valves. The two ball grose style valve did the trick. What ever type you use make sure it is working properly. The danger of...
