Re: Electric fans

Lot of factors, but a rule of thumb is 2-3 degrees for every psi. For a #13 cap, that would be around 26 to 39 degrees. At sea level that would be around 240 to 250 degrees.

Re: 32 Model B Cabriolet steering adjustment

That is the pre-load adjustment on the bearings, so it has to slide in to increase the per-load and/or out to lower the pre-load. Once it is set it doesn't move. You set it by adjusting the gasket...

Re: Price of cars down, price of parts up

As owners/collectors age there will be more and more vehicles on the market and fewer folks wanting to purchase them. But then, there is always the Hot Rod market!

Too many cars/trucks for sell...

Re: Airtex E8902 Debacle

The instruction sheet doesn't have (+)s and (-)s on it? What does it say, just power and ground? Interesting.

If anyone else is interested, the Amazon site has an installation video. The pump...

Re: distributor questions

Ol Ron is into gas mileage and drivability under varying conditions. I'm into a distributor that gets the curve to full advance and not real concerned about the extra couple of mpg. I did however...

Re: distributor questions

I've always been a fan of the older Mallory dual points. Had them in a lot of different vehicles.

Re: 36 LB. temp ranges, thermostats?

Where does the idea Ford v8s came from the factory without thermostats come from? Running without them is a bad idea for a lot of reasons.

Re: Old Henry

Don't think any post would detour Henry, he seemed to enjoy the confrontation. If I remember correctly he was a lawyer.

Re: 39 transmission. V12 OD to V8-60????

I believe that some of the stock v60 used even lower gearing. And with a "hopped-up" engine you are shifting the torque curve even futher up the rpm range.

Re: 8BA Valve Guide Removal

Unless you are trying to keep the valves, springs, etc, I just cut the valves and springs up and drive the guides out.

Re: getting her to run

Any idea why a 12 volt system is using a positive ground? Not that common. Is the Mallory distributor a points distributor? Is it possible someone just stuck a 12v battery in a 6 volt system? Are...

Re: My junkyard find

Re: Problems starting when hot

Also, when the ballast resistor is hot, it is reducing the voltage to the coil more than when it is cold. So you have the voltage pulled down by the starter draw and the ballast resistor at maximum...
