Re: 292 y-block distributor puzzler

probably not helpful to have that hose laying on top of the bellcrank mechanism. I would reroute it. Just to take that out of the equation.

Good luck with the issues, These vac advance deals with...

Re: aluminium radiator

My bird has an alum radiator now after 40+ years of ownership. I painted it black. No one knows it's not stock and also I don't care anyway. It runs cooler and seems to dissipate heat quicker after...

Re: Drilling on carpet for safety belts

I do what the guy in the video does except I don't have any cheap sockets! Instead I use a short piece of copper tubing according to the bolt size. Also doesn't mess up my soldering iron.

Re: 57 T Bird non porthole top

I have a non porthole 57 top. It came with my 55 bird. I had it since 1967, when I bought the car. At the time I didn't know the difference. Later on, after doing different kinds of work to it I...

Re: '55 T-bird bucket seats?

I have also considered the Procar seats.

Another option I have seen is a Pontiac Fiero seat. Although the headrest must be cut down and you would need a trusted upholstery guy to do them like you...

Re: supercharged y-block carb on e-pay

Thanks for all this discussion, guys. In my early days with birds and salvage yard trips, we ran across all kinds of blowers and e type configs. At the time in the late 60's all those things were...

Re: 1964 f250

I have a 64 F100. I do see the tool boxes you speak of forsale from time to time. Be aware they can be very rusty and bent. So check them out as well as you possibly can.
You might check on...

Re: 1955 T-Bird early(1954) VIN

I think in today's world if i were in your shoes I would find a wrecked new FORD product that has the latest and greatest modern day engine. Plenty of power with excellent mileage. Just my thoughts.

Re: Hoist for T Bird hardtop

Almost forgot !
To use this, lower the winch and Rig down close to your hardtop. If you don't trust the rig lay a heavy blanket down first. Then uncouple the one cable end and push the long tube...

Re: Hoist for T Bird hardtop

One more thing about the remote, It is long enough for my use. I don't see whay you couldn't lengthen it though.

Re: Hoist for T Bird hardtop

I've done this with the same winch you describe. It was in my last Attic/Garage before we moved to our new location.
I kept all the rigging etc. and moved it to my new location.
I will try to get...

Re: '58 ford ranchero sunvisor mounts

I have used a same size piece of thin metal tubing as a hot punch. I heat it first with a torch or flame first, not super hot. Then push it thru the vinyl. Works great for carpet also.
Practice...

Re: Low-pressure brake light switch

I converted my 55 bird to a manual bracket switch located on the brake pedal arm. It has been working well for many years now, longer than I can remember! I recommend this. Also cured the inferior...

Re: Wheel question offset

I think you can make 17 look good. 18's I don't know, I did 17's. It's your car.
I would be more concerned that you are using a 4" lowering block. It would be much safer and ride better if you were...

Re: 55 T bird question

Glad to hear you are contemplating a yblock. I'm no purist but a yblock can be found for that car and will be the best choice. Take your time, I actually found a low milage running 292 for my truck...

Re: Warped spin-on oil filter adapter? y-block

Use your drill press bed or table saw bed to check it for flatness and do as Ole Mics suggested. You can flatten it out and install a new gasket. Another option I have considered is purchasing a new...

Re: Y block 292

My AOD work great behind the souped up 292 in my 55 TBird. Does require an adapter of course.
The T5 swap is a good one too.

Re: 55 T-bird suspension improvements?

Sorry, can't get my photos to load at this time.
However, the fender lip on the drivers side wheel measured 26 1/4" to the floor after freshly installed springs. I measured tonite and the distance...

Grumpy Rick, yes the aerostar springs did lower the front but I can't recall how much. It was not greatly significant. I have pic somewhere. I may be able to find them. The wallowing is quite often...

Re: 55 T-bird suspension improvements?

I've been driving my 55 bird since 1967.
I have tried several renditions of springs packs for the rear and none that I can recommend. I will say that I would not go stiffer with a spring pack. I...
