Re: NOS 1938-48 24 Stud Head Gaskets

I use these religiously and have never had an issue. I do spray them with coppercoat. In my humble opinion, newer is not necessarily better.

Re: Tight windows

Phil, I have zero clue as to how the tracks are in a 32. I have had some issues with repop tracks for later years causing the same issue you've described.
Each time, the repop tracks were formed a...

Bob, I am just about to do this task with my current coupe project. I am willing to take detailed photos for you and share some "tricks" to make your life easier.

Perhaps you can private message...

Re: Oversized Brake Drums

Frank, The parts store was actually following the law. I remain surprised that their training included this little tid bit.

Good for them and good for you :)

Re: 40 Door Hinge Right Mirror

I can only guess why your hinge was prepared for a mirror. My guess? Yes, a "holdover". Is your car early as far as you know?
From my limited research of wagons, yes, '40 was the first year they...

Re: 40 Door Hinge Right Mirror

Darke, Carpenter list them. You do realize a hinge pin mirror is not correct - yes?

Re: Drake 40 dlx headlamp rims (bezels)

I'd had the exact experience when installing a set on a '46 coupe.

Re: Drake 40 dlx headlamp rims (bezels)

The bumper guards fit albeit poorly. The contour does not match the authentic bumper's contour.
The end guards fit. How do you tell a repop from an authentic tip? Two ways.
1) An authentic tip...

Re: New V8 Owner, 1936 Tudor Touring Deluxe

Very nice car there young man!
I see you did in fact join the Early Ford V8 Club. Wise choice :)

I'm willing to bet you'll get a lot of enjoyment out of the club's '35 - '36 restoration manual....

Re: 1940 Columbia Install

I did this once for a client that didn't care about authenticity. I no longer recall the length but know it should be quite easy to discern.

Re: Oversized Brake Drums

In Illinois back in early 1980's, two folks were killed when a persons brakes failed and they were run over.
The person driving was eventually jailed. It was quite the sensation back then making a...

Re: Hard Starting - Fuel Line Issues

As your engine "runs great" as you state, there is most likely little to be done to make it start great. There is ZERO need for an electric pump on a properly built and maintained fuel system. ...

Re: What kinda needle and seat????

Yep, Grosejet... I've had a few in the shop due to failure. I'd never considering using one myself.
Oddly enough (to me anyway) they each CLOSED off the supply of fuel.

Re: Drake 40 dlx headlamp rims (bezels)

40larry, Appreciate what Drake has done for us? Sure, on occasion.
What I don't appreciate is paying $175 for a pair of headlamp bezels that are crap and can't be utilized.
Here is a direct quote...

Re: Paul Bradley Response

Don't waste any more time attempting to reach him. Even if by some rare chance you did talk with him, the likelihood of ever getting the pans you desire is near zero.

Re: Paul Bradley Response

Coopman, YOU have my full respect and have had it for years. No apology necessary - none at all.
How would you have possibly known about the recent loss?
We're good... at least I hope so....

Re: Drake 40 dlx headlamp rims (bezels)

To truly restore an old car has been cost prohibitive for the average person for decades.

Re: Drake '40 tank

You'll need to lift the body a bit.
They are a bit wider than the authentic tank and as such won't install like an authentic tank.
If your buddy had ever replaced an authentic tank, he already...
