It would work for me. The adjusting window on the Chevy cap gets very close to my fan belt on My AV8. So close I have sanded it the edges down.

Go to Wag Aero or Aircraft Spruce's website. Black wrinkle paint was used on many older aircraft instrument panels. The stuff sold by the aviation suppliers works very good and lasts a long time.
