Re: Unfortunate News

Yes, the CA fires have taken quite a toll for us. Fortunately it did not affect us. I have never deal with him but I will send him a kind word. So sorry to hear about this. - Bob

Re: Road Forced Balanced Tires

JW, Love your 56 wagon. I knew of static balance and dynamic balance but never under load?! This is new to me. Looks like it worked for you. I do not understand how they rotated the tires on the rim?...

Re: everything shuts down

If you have an accessory Amp meter? That could be a source for problems you describe. Had one in my 55 years ago and it had heavy wires going to it. All power to the car ran through it and its...

Re: Speedometer Replacement 47 Fordor

After going over lubing the cable etc. and if you are sure your speedo is bad I would suggest to have it repaired or find an OEM replacement. I have had a speedometer and a mechanical temperature...

Re: ford 4 spd overdrive to 59ab

JSeery, That is a very nice solution to moving the shifter without disturbing the innards. Seems simple and clean. Thanks - Bob

Re: vacuum wiper

Just use a donor car to supply vacuum. Probably the one you are driving will supply all the vacuum you need. Just run a probably 1/4" hose from a vacuum source on donor car to your wiper motor in the...

Re: Carburator paint ?

Daves55, I think the re-plating is the best way to go. Any painting process will certainly be damaged with ethanol fuels. I had previously bookmarked this video that has a lot of information on the...

Daves 55. I totally appreciate the fact that you kept your 55 on the road for 45 years!! I also appreciate the help you have given others over the years. I have a 56 Club in limbo at the moment and...

Re: P & G Valve Gapper

Years ago I was trying to find one of these. I always thought this was the most accurate way to adjust the valves. I do remember Walt's many contributions in the past. The quarter turn is also a good...

Re: turn signals utilising back up lights

Graeme, The original back up lamp assy that mounts to the splash pan are not re-popped as far as I know. One other option is to use the "work lamp" assy used on old tractors like 8N and some station...

Re: Assembling with STP

Big-Foot, Thanks. That is a great tip. Using the 2 stroke oil for lubing the pistons and rings makes perfect sense. I have a bunch of the stuff laying around since I now buy the pre-mixed fuel for my...

Re: T-Bird Battery

A few years ago you could get a Motocraft 29 series battery at local Ford dealers. I think they were used in trucks and some industrial applications. - Bob

Re: fuel gage

By your description it seems the electrical part of your fuel gauge circuit is in order. I would suspect the float arm somehow hanging up around the 1/2 tank mark. I have also seen gauge pointers...

Re: Fuel Hose With Check Valve

I also had the problem of no fuel in the bowl after sitting only a couple of days. A simple way to check for this is to remove the airfilter, operate the throttle lever while looking down the barrel...

Re: 46-48 flathead engine color

I just checked my "1941-48 Ford Book", published by The Early Ford V-8 Club of America, and it specifies blue for 46-48 and green for 41-42. On page 5-3 it also states that "oil pans in all cases are...

Re: Power valve

I just got done rebuilding the 2 barrel on my 47V8. This carb is basically the same as a 55. The carb would drain its fuel in about 4 hours. Had to remove air cleaner and dump fuel down carb if it...
