In my opinion, converting to 8 volts is either a band-aid or it is dinking with something that ain't broke just for the sake of doing it.

I notice the same thing. My tranny is very smooth at shifting, but the first few minutes in cold weather, I do experience some grinding. I guess the colder and more sluggish oil slows the gears...

Not only lock up, but picture, if you will, the impossible situation of having to destroy the backing plate and presumably everything else on the wheel to get to a locked up brake. :eek:

Like you say; It has nothing to do with it. A switch just turns it on or off, no matter what polarity.
