Re: 266 versus 276 CI?

Re: 266 versus 276 CI?

BUT, a lot of the dirt track guys went with 3 7/16 x 4 1/8 for 306.

That was the engine to beat at Ascot, in the LA area.

Re: German H-block?

The piston marking of 80.92 if mm, would be 3.1858 and that would be a standard bore.

Re: Prony Brake Ideas

As I said in my initial response, on the other thread, you can spray water into the center of the rotor.

I checked the heat transfer rate and the heat transfer coefficient of water is about350...

Re: Prony Brake Ideas

The lever (or screw) pushing against the master cyl, only supply's line pressure to the caliper and that only loads the disk brake rotor. The advantage of the screw, is it will hold a steady pressure...

Prony Brake Ideas

This is my concept of a simple Prony Brake Dyno.

It's probably a little over kill to use a 1 1/2 ton disk for a 150 HP engine but, it would be trouble free, I think to at least 250 HP.

The...

Re: Is it normal to build an engine test stand?

A idea that I've contemplated for many years, is to use a large disk brake, connected to a drive shaft, on the bolt pattern. Mount the caliper, to a lever, 1 ft long, to a point (say a bolt) from the...

Re: off topic= Largest wreck ever, Daytona 1960

I didn't see one 1960 car, other than the Buick pace car.

That was 3 years after the ban so, I guess they continued to run the '57 "race" cars.

Re: What is the correct condenser rating?

A question that comes to mind, after reading the range of mfd is, has anyone tested the voltage output, with different mfd's and point gap settings.

For instance, with a higher mfd, can you run...

Re: V8 Camshaft Bolt Pattern

My error! I didn't do a close enough exam of it and confused the slated grill with a 35 :o

Re: V8 Camshaft Bolt Pattern

I'm assuming your engine is for the Batten Special?

Will the restoration to the earlier configuration, include going back to the '35 type grill shell?

Re: V8 Camshaft Bolt Pattern

It's either a typo on the 21 or he's going to have to put a 4.5 stroke in it.

Re: Stromberg Carbs 81s 97s & 48s

It is my understanding the the reason they are called "48" is that it comes from Fords part number for 1934.

Re: Bolt remover socket

If I'm getting this right, the hex of the bolt head is rounded, until a socket spins on it?

If that is the case, the way that I go about it, is to use a prick punch and a hammer to turn it. It...

Re: Carbon on porcelin of plugs, flathead V8

Dark and sooty would probably mean to much time spent, with the choke on, with your short run driving.

You really need to get it on the road,...
