Whenever I install a new cam timing gear I always enlarge the dimple with a drill , they are all way too small .I also agree with Dave . A stubby phillips screwdriver makes a better timing pin .

This is a good reason not to let anybody drive your model A unless you are in there with them . Some will badly lug the engine while thinking that they are going easy on it .. Many don't know what...

Your timing is obviously off . Try this !!! Remove all of the spark plugs to remove compression . When the engine nears number one time it gets more difficult to turn and causes a person to go past...

Several things can cause back firing . Check points gap and initial timing . Improper float setting ,, GAV closed too much and vacume leaks anywhere from the intake manifold to the vacume windshield...

I've seen adjustment needle driver that wasn't pinned that would slip . I think that the pin is an extra cost part to prevent slippage . I prefer the pinned part .

Of course the brakes need to be in good condition before final adjustment . There is a lot of confusion about model A brakes and probably always will be !!! People need to know that there is two...

The so called modern points are said to be 1957 to 1977 , Ford V8 points . I tried the modern setup and had nothing but problems . If nothing else , the so called modern points are so much more...

Check to make sure that the rotor tip isn't striking some of the spark plug wire contacts in the distributor cap body , as the distributor shaft turns . Sometimes the plug wire contacts are too long...

When I was pretty young , driving a model A was a thrill !!! I got my first model A in 1960 . I turn 73 this year and driving the model A is still fun .
