So that puts me in a bad situation- do I believe the Lucas tires are problematic and pass on them or do I go ahead and get a set and risk spending $400+ for tires I will possibly be uhappy with.....

Interesting.
I was on the brink of ordering a set of Lucas tires until I read this.
"Wandering" is my buggest complaint about Firestones so I do not want any more of that.

Now it's back to...

"porta-walls" had them on my '59 Chevy in the 60s.

Have had about 40 cars since and the only one with whitewalls was the '37 Plymouth.

I'm well known for my dislike of whitewalls on Model As...
