Re: What is that racket?????
Gary, Bob is sort of laid up at the moment. I don't know when we will get to it, but all the advice we've been given here at the Barn has been well received. We're pretty sure it's the loose dipper...

Re: Zenith Carb: New vs. Rebuilt
Oh, I don't know, guys. The day I received my very first Social Security check my wife and I drove to Snyder's and I bought a new Zenith. That's been 12 years ago and I haven't had a bit of trouble...

Re: Ford Yard
A few years ago an old timer walked up to my "A" and rapped on the fender and said "you know boy, they don't make 'em like they used to." I told him that the "A" has more than 20 grease fittings on...

What is that racket?????
My friend, Bob, dropped the pan on his '29 tudor. He took out the dipper tray and cleaned everything. After putting it all back together the engine made a terrible clatter. We're wondering if the...

Re: Ford Yard
As I was walking into the garage the other day I marveled that my 1930 Model A town sedan was parked next to my wife's 2020 Ford Escape. What a difference 90 years makes!

Thank you, brokenspoke. I hate that we have to be skeptical, but that's life now a days.

Modern Points and Condenser
Last night I watched Paul Shinn talk about modern points in a model A. He said he didn't like the "moderns" because you can't find a good condenser. Well, I've had modern points in my A for about...

Re: Interesting Link about Manifold Heaters
Shrew01, Thanks for this link. I had no trouble loading it.
As I looked thru the many different types I noticed the Red Head heater. My '30 town sedan has a hole (now covered by a piece of...

Re: New Tires
When I mounted my new tires I lubricated them with Murphy's Oil Soap. Very slippery and washes off with water. Just don't kick the bottle over on the garage floor. Again, very slippery. Don't ask...

Re: Skills Necessary To Own & Operate A Model "A"
To al's28/31,
In the 30 years I've owned my Model A, I've only hand cranked it once. I drove it on a nice warm day and put it in the garage. Everything was nice and warm and "juicy" and I gave at...

Re: Old photo slideshow for fun lot of A's
The tall man in the picture was Robert Wadlow. He lived from 1918 to 1940 and was recorded to be the world's tallest man at 8' 11". My mind is full of worthless facts.

Re: Old photo slideshow for fun lot of A's
Thanks for posting. I really enjoyed that trip "down memory lane."
A couple things I noted.
1 - Seems like a lot of folks put tires and wheels from other cars on their model A's. I guess it's like...

Larry, In your original post you said "new radiators are nearly $100.00 now." where on earth can you find a new radiator for $100.00?

Re: Model a colors
In our model A group, The A Team, we have 5 cars painted Chicle/Copra and none of them are the same. Most of us old guys are color blind anyway. Color, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder....

Re: RHD pedal question
I don't mean to capture this thread, but I've never seen a RHD car. Is the clutch on the left and the gas pedal on the right?

Re: Gas filter with the sediment bulb.
In my car I'm using a disposable filter that came from Snyder's. You got two in your order and they dropped into the glass bowl. I have the second one in now but I don't see them in their catalog any...

Just to throw in my two cents, what about all the old cars in Cuba. I understand they are mostly repowered with small Russian diesels but the bodies?

Re: oil question
Before lay-up last fall I changed the oil and used 10 W 30. Last summer I used 35 weight oil. 35 you ask? That's two quarts of 30 and two quarts of 40. The car didn't seem to mind.
