Re: Optima 6 Volt Red Top Battery

I gave up on the Optima batteries. First one lasted 9 years, second one lasted three. Went and bought a conventional 6 volt at Auto Zone and its been much better.

Check for spark while cranking. I had a similar issue on my 40. No spark and it turned out to be the ignition switch behind the steering column.

I had a similar experience on my 40 until I rectified that last year.
1. 2006 Stock manifolds, cross under engine and then again at crossmember under the U-joint. Voila dual exhaust.

HS - Run the motor for a bit to get it warmed up before draining the oil, and leave the oil plug out for a good 15 minutes. Replace the plug and add the five quarts. There wont be enough oil left in...

For what its worth, I bought a used original off ebay for about 100, had it tested -it failed. and recored with split copper cores for $650 at a local radiator shop.

I did a few sets of '40 ashtrays a few years ago with the red oxide primer base and rustoleum Kona Brown, for the grain pattern with newspaper, then clear coated.
