Re: Coil failure ?

Remove wire lead off spark plug. Place it 1/8 inch or so from the spark plug terminal - ignition on, turn over via starter, should see a nice blue spark across the lead to plug gap. Quick way of...

Re: 1930 Ford Model A 4Dr (Inherited Don't Know Much - HELP)

You may already know, but if you are going to resuscitate the car do it correctly. Before attempting to start, or even turn the motor over - drain the oil/drop the pan and clean it and the oil pump...

Re: Carb problims

Sealer is not recommended anywhere on a carb, it will only mask the real problem. Sealer if used on a carb also has a tendency to dissolve/deteriorate and cause other issues like clogging carb...

Re: Fumes

If using Teflon tape, use the gas/oil resistant type. I believe it is yellow. Not commonly found, may have to search for it. When wrapping it on the shutoff threads make sure the tape does not...

Re: backfire out of exhaust after warmed up shut down.

Screwing in the idle mixture screw makes it richer - so being wet, sooty/black makes sense when you screwed in the mixture screw. If you wanted leaner, should turn the screw out (counter...

Re: Repop Ammeter Junk

Seems you hit the nail on the head. I dug into their site, and hidden in the instruction sheets shows how/where to hook the backlight.

Re: Model A fuse.

Seems you have a customized fuse set up. I was referencing the standard starter mounted fuse set up where only the starter is not fused by the single starter mounted fuse.

Re: backfire out of exhaust after warmed up shut down.

Had this issue when I received my A back from a Model A repair shop. Carb was not set correctly and the carb idle mixture was set way too rich.

Re: Anyone use a TomTom gps?

Tap into the ignition switch existing wiring, or some venders offer an ignition switch with a spare wiring contact/connection.
