Re: Spark plug for driver, not show car.

I run Champion W18 plugs and I am happy with them. Reasonably priced and available. It gives the look of a 3X plug at a fraction of the price. You will need to order the brass tops as the standard...

Re: 30A Roadster Shocks

John Holland is an expert on shock rebuilding. He is also very reasonable. I have a set of shocks John rebuilt 10 years ago and they are still in perfect working order. His telephone number is...

Re: Oh man. Now I canít even get my A to start or make a noise.

Check your ground cable from the battery to the frame. Make sure it is a nice clean connection. I would also install a ground cable from the ground cable on the battery to a top transmission bolt. ...

Re: ignition

I have 2 stock distributors, one on the car and the other one under the seat. The one under the seat is timed to my engine. I only had to use it once in 38,000 miles because of a condenser failure....

Re: Speedometer stopped working on my 29

Hey Master Cyl,

You might just have the wrong speedometer gear in the torque tube. You will need to check your differential ratio and get the speedometer gear that matches the ratio.

Re: Opinions on tires wanted-

The first 2 sets of tires on my A were Firestones. I was able to get 17k miles on each set. My car had a slight wander with the Firestones. I purchased Goodyear whitewalls in 2017. The wander...

Re: Shocks for a Model A 1930 pickup

John Holland rebuilds original shocks at a very reasonable cost. Give him a call at 330-483-3896. He rebuilt my shocks 10 years ago and they are still going strong.

Re: Tires

I have worn out 2 sets of Firestone tires. My latest buy was Goodyear tires. I like Goodyear tires much better than Firestone tires as they hold the road better and your A will have reduced...

Re: Radiator Recommendation

Three years ago I bought a 4 row radiator from Bert's. I have since routinely driven my A in 100+ degree weather. My A never went over 180 degrees even when climbing a 7,500 elevation summit for...

Re: Front wheel bearing grease caps?

I bought a pair years ago. They did not fit as the inserted part was over size. I carefully ground down the inserted part until it was a snug fit. The have been on ever since modified.

Re: Popping carb

I agree with the suggestions on this thread. However, a restricted gas flow will cause your engine to pop.
Things to check:
Disconnect the gas line at the carb and see if you have good flow from...

Re: Fs ignitions

I know many folks who run the FS ignition. They are always happy with the FS until they fail on a tour. Most Model Aers are not familiar with the FS system and are of no help when a FS failure...

Re: leaking head gasket?

Standard head studs will work with the 5.5 head.

I think post 12 is referring to the test to see if your coolant has any exhaust gasses.

Re: leaking head gasket?

Changing the head gasket might just do the trick. However, when you have the head off, be sure to have it magna-fluxed to check for cracks and also see if the head needs to be surfaced. You need to...

Re: Simple to make and use Toe-In gauge

The measurement is between 1/16"-1/32" difference from back to front. I always think about a bent rim which will throw the measurement off. So, here is how I do it:

Drill a whole in a block of...

Re: Service Brake Cross Shaft lubrication

I have been using the split bushings for 20 years. I lubed them with some sticky red grease upon installation. Checked them about 5 years ago and they were still full of grease. The split bushings...

Re: Brake Conversion? Or not.

I am perfectly happy with mechanical brakes on my 31 coupe.

It will cost you in the $2,000 neighborhood to convert to juice brakes.

You will need some good advice and a good vendor to help...

Re: PCV valve good idea?

I only put in 4 quarts when changing oil. About 1/2 quart stays in the engine between the valve galley and the dipper tray. That gives me 4 1/2 quarts in the engine. This lowers the oil level in...

Re: Fumbled a piston

I agree the piston will probably function as a piston. However, I would be concerned about the weight of the piston. Generally pistons are weighed in grams, and come as a matched set; that is they...

Re: Clutch pressure plate New or Reconditioned?

Bert's Model A Center has a pressure plate rebuilder. He does a great job. The fingers are preset so all you have to do is bolt it to the flywheel. Steve at Bert's told me he has not had a...
