Re: help dowshift 3rd to 2nd

Unless you need the engine to help you slow down going down a grade, down shifting is not normally needed. In town driving you just pull up to a stop and shift from third into first (with the clutch...

Re: Buy flow tested carburetor jets?

I rigged up a simple test rig with pvc pipe fittings and flow tested new jets from a kit and originals. I think only two were within acceptable tolerances. I soldered the rest and resized with proper...

Re: Valve Spring Compressor

I have one I bought in 70’s when I was doing flat head Willys Jeep engine. Works great on model A. Looks like half of a little scissor jack. One fork slides under keeper and one in between first...

Re: Rebuilding Zenith Carburators

I am new to model As and my introduction is through a pretty much basket case AA that probably should have been a parts truck but my ignorance has gotten me in too deep to turn back now. I have...

Re: ebay radiators

Looks funny but would work I guess. I was thinking about one on a driver AA I’m currently working on but saw a photo of one in an AA and decided against it. I just had my original radiator recored in...

Re: Zenith-1 carb question

I fought one forever. Finally figured out a tiny pinhole was rusted between secondary well and hole for the long bolt. Some fuel resistant sealer on secondary well threads fixed it. I fixed leaking...

Re: Running board braces

I had to practically reconstruct some of the brackets on my AA. I heated and straightened them as much as possible in vice and on anvil. After reinstalling I use a piece of pipe over the end to bend...

Re: 30-31 Model AA Front Brake Pin

The problem with the truck, I guess not enough demand for reproduction parts. I bought two spare rear axles and one front for that reason. Sorted through and picked best parts. Brake drums: find good...

Re: valve guide

Of the three model A blocks I’ve disassembled all had at least one with a chunk gone here. Most likely, I would suggest, by someone knocking valve guide out without proper tool. Picture is not too...

Re: Your biggest Model-A mistake of the year?

Not starting my project when I was younger, (pretty much basket case AA), not finding a more complete project, and in hind sight:
I wish I had cleaned out sludge, tightened bearings, lapped...
