Re: Stainless valves problem

Stainless exhaust valves must be set at .015" clearance. The KR Wilson feeler gages produced in 1931 and later use a .015" thick gauge. I seem to remember this is also stated in the 1932 Service...

Re: 29 Tudor electric wiper

One issue that I see a lot is noticeable in the picture of the installed wiper. The small round knurled nut on the wiper arm is tightened all the way. This is a tension adjustment and should only be...

Re: 1929 model a taxi cab

Yes, your taximeter is the typical Pittsburgh meter used in many of the original Model A Taxis. It looks to be accurately restored. Is it available?

Re: Extra holes in coupe/roadster rear bumper arms

Rusty -
Well you hit upon a small detail that took me a few years to figure out, not to mention a lot of $$$$. The extra holes were added in early 1929 to accommodate the proper location for the...

Re: 31 Victoria trunk rack

If you wish to mount the deluxe luggage rack (chrome plated with wood-grained slats), the brackets are unique to the Victoria. They could be converted from the normal Roaster/Coupe style bracket by...

Re: How Was It Done?

With regards to the painting process on bodies assembled and painted prior to shipment, the Ford paint specification sheets indicate the hoods were already at the assembly plant. At the assembly...

Re: 68a&b side windows

There is a slight difference between the 68-A and 68-B window frames. I doubt if most people will care, but the 68-A doors with the wood structure supporting the window regulators and door latch...

Re: How was the top bolt for the rear mounted spare

The rear inner panel is different on the early 1928 rumble seat models. They did not have the brace like Rusty shows in his photos (and no square hole in the inner panel). The bolt only went through...

Re: NOS Ford valve question

Valves with Ford Script are all stainless steel and in my opinion are superior to anything made today. The flat top valves were the first design of the stainless type. In the mid-late 1930's, the...

Re: Locking Spare Identity

Most lock cylinders are frozen due to the pot metal swelling. Before, going to far, try turning (in both directions) the lock cylinder with a small screwdriver. Don't twist very hard as it will...

Re: Victor 800 vs. Victor 800C Head Gasket Question

Early copper clad Victor gaskets were all marked with 800 only. The 800C gasket is modern, although I do not know when they added the C. Dimensionally they are the same.
