Re: V8-60 waterpumps identification

Re: Ford Starter

An 8N tractor (6V) uses the same starter as a 60hp flathead. Your local New Holland/Ford tractor dealer should be able to supply parts for them. Their parts books ever carry the 52-part numbers. ...

Re: Clutch replacement costs...

Our local "new" car dealer charges a $95 an hour shop rate. This is in Tennessee. It's as costly as going to the doctor or dentist.

Recently there was a discussion about adj tappets (lifters). It has been suggested that it is not wise to use 91A-6500 hollow and slotted non-adj lifters with a performance cam or a stock cam while...

I can have my A block baked and steel shot blasted by a local machine shop. My understanding is that it will be as clean as it can be. Would it be prudent to melt the babbit out before this is done...

Is it necessary to remove the fuel pump bushing also? My understanding is that it intersects the main oil passage.

Re: 1948 ford mercury oil pump

Originally from Ford, it had the long pump. If the engine has been rebuilt, the only way to know would be to drop the pan and have a look. Many have been rebuilt and changed to the 8BA pump and...

Re: Mystery Engine Part

I wonder if the PO had a starter drive spring break in the past? It looks to me like a piece of a starter spring drive? Both ends are ruff and looks like the shape of the starter drive.

2-bolt 59AB dist cast iron housings

Any ideas why Ford made cast iron 2 bolt dist housings? I would assume that during the war aluminum was in short supply, but after the war? Were they for industrial power units or heavy trucks?
