Re: Brakes pulling hard left (sometimes)

Thanks, that’s good to know, wasn’t aware of that. Again, I would guess if that was the problem, the brakes would always pull rather than working perfectly at times. I’ll look for those bolts when...

Re: Brakes pulling hard left (sometimes)

I agree with your comments about most things would not be intermittent, but think your idea that the wheel cylinder is not returning when hot (if so, I believe that would indicate the front left?)....

Re: Brakes pulling hard left (sometimes)

To be honest, I don’t remember. There were so many problems with the car when I bought it, I didn’t trust to drive it. I ended up rebuilding nearly everything mechanical including new engine,...

Brakes pulling hard left (sometimes)

I am having a pretty scary problem with the brakes pulling VERY hard left when braking especially with hard braking on my 1956 Thunderbird.. I swear if I didn’t hold the steering wheel it would make...

Re: Many air-cooled Fordomatic transmission parts

Just one more post. If anyone wants any of these transmission parts they are yours for the taking, just pay the shipping cost.

I may be moving soon and won’t have room to store them, and I would...

Re: Many air-cooled Fordomatic transmission parts

I thought I would add some more pictures and clarify that I would sell individual parts if you need any specific Fordomatic parts. Just let me know if you are interested in any of the individual...

Re: How critical is the lower fan shroud bracket on a 1956 Thunderbird ?

I have read similar reports (or opinions) going both ways. The radiator I bought has 2 rows of 1” tubes which is supposed to cool better than 3 or 4 rows of smaller tubes. It appears it has solved...

Re: How critical is the lower fan shroud bracket on a 1956 Thunderbird ?

I was just thinking of that, and was going to research it. It looks to me like the bracket would fit. I wonder if some kind of epoxy or liquid steel type product would work?

Re: How critical is the lower fan shroud bracket on a 1956 Thunderbird ?

I have the bracket. The extra fabricated piece by the previous owner, attached to the bracket. Then the bracket was screwed to the bottom of the shroud. And the fabricated piece went under the...

How critical is the lower fan shroud bracket on a 1956 Thunderbird ?

My bird is just a driver, not an all original show car.

I replaced the radiator with an aftermarket aluminum one that was billed to fit 1955-57 Thunderbird to fix an overheating problem (so far...

Y-block Thermostat housing for free

I don’t know if this would be useful to anyone, but I just have a driver, not a restored/show car. I replaced this housing with a reproduction. A friend told me someone might want this because it...

Re: Checking radiator for overheating problem with 1956 Thunderbird

Yes, I watched this video last week. He is indeed talented and has the tools and equipment to pull it off in a reasonable time.

Re: Fender Skirt Seals

I now have the fender skirts on my T-bird. Like everything with my driver, they look pretty nice from a distance. I didn’t have the greatest luck with the 3M weatherstrip adhesive. It may have...

Re: Checking radiator for overheating problem with 1956 Thunderbird

I ended up buying both the housing and water pump nipple even though my old nipple was in good shape. I figured while I’m going through all this trouble, might as well use new parts. My car is just...

Re: Fender Skirt Seals

Well, I got too impatient and wanted to glue the fender skirt seals on, but this hot weather (over 90*) the adhesive got tacky immediately making installation a real pain.

I’ve glued the top first...

Re: Checking radiator for overheating problem with 1956 Thunderbird

I thought some of you might get a kick out of the thermostat housing I replaced to solve a coolant leak. Me thinks me tightened the hose clamp a little too much on an old corroded tube. That was...

Re: Which coolant recovery tank for 1956 Thunderbird

I just bought a “bolt on” aluminum radiator that is supposed to be for 1955-57 Tbirds, but the overflow tube is on the drivers side. I’ll try to find something that works.

Which coolant recovery tank for 1956 Thunderbird

I have a new radiator ordered. I was planning on adding a coolant recovery tank.

Has anyone already installed one on an early bird and have recommendations for any that easily installed, as well...

Re: Fender Skirt Seals

Thanks, these pictures were very helpful. I did not notice the flap on the wide part that went over the edge of the skirt. Your seals look a little longer than mine, you even were able to trim the...

Re: Fender Skirt Seals

Was this a contact type adhesive where you apply to both parts and let it dry until tacky, then connect parts together? Did it stick together immediately or do you have ability to reposition? Was...

Re: Fender Skirt Seals

I bought a tube of the 3M weatherstripping adhesive too. It appears to be contact adhesive where you apply to both surfaces and wait until it gets tacky, then connect the two pieces. Is this...

Re: Fender Skirt Seals

Thanks. Any suggestions on how the wide section at each end bend to follow the curve of the skirt? It’s like a compound curve. First the curve from the thin part of the seal that follows the edge...

Re: Checking radiator for overheating problem with 1956 Thunderbird

Thanks. I finally have the cooling system holding pressure. The head gaskets are installed correctly with the square corners on the front. My next step is to ensure I don’t have any air pockets in...
