I've seen more than few frames where the recessed stamped hole has cracked out of the frame, much as you describe the "U" shaped cutout.

If you are talking hub/drum assys; up to '47 will fit. '48 up used 11" Bendix brakes.

If you are talking drums only, you need to get the ones that fit your style hub; flange inside or flange...

Seems to me, the "vacuum leak" that is the line from the PCV valve should be divided equally between both plains of the manifold like it is on OEM applications. so as not to slightly "lean out" half...

In most cases; if you lightly push a paperclip or something similar in thru the brass seats in the ports you can feel the spring loaded checks if present.

Bracket your tow bar to the axle, block under the frame rails so they are supported, pull the front wheels, and pull it like a trailer.

Front brakes are '46-'48 Ford Lockheed. The rears are Bendix type.

As far as I have seen the CE front end is the only "bolt-in" IFS kit that I have ever found for a '42-'48.

The 3" narrower track may not really be a detriment in the bigger scheme of things.

Do you have any more details on how you got these parts to work.

When I set the same parts together, the '40 style Ford drum sat against the outer lip of the F-250 plate when it was about 5/8"...

Are lower anchor pin cam holes in the repop shoes correctly located? Some repops were made incorrectly. Original Ford on top, defective repop on bottom.

FWIW I think the brass cams should fit...

I usually cut it thru the weld, bevel the cut edge, drill a 3/8" hole thru the 'bone sideways. I don't worry about a tight fit; but more about alignment. I clamp the 'bone with the yoke vertical...

Unless you got something special; most of those 1 wire alternators are 100 amps or so. I wouldn't run them thru the stock ammeter.
