Top radiator hose problem

So I noticed my top radiator hose that was about 8 years old
was super soft & flimsy when I squeezed it. It's the repo type
with the red line down the side. It's thinner than regular hoses I've...

Re: Different Shifting Procedure

One has to also guard against shifting at a too low of a speed, bogging the motor
which is not the greatest for the mains (main bearings).

Re: Water vs Antifreeze

Opinions are just opinions. Want a true story? My dads Model A Tudor sat for about 15 years in his garage. I took the radiator out to start the process of starting the car after all that time. He...

Re: Transmission stuck

I followed Tom Endy's tower rebuild tutorial and it's all explained well. I Mig welded the ball back into shape as well as rebuilding the rest of the tower and it operates well. Look into his info.

Re: Distilled Water?

Tap water in my area is suicide in any auto. S. California water has calcium and it collects the white calcium deposits in your core. Distilled water is a must out here. And you can you soluble...

LED headlights in a 6 volt car anyone?

Here's my question-If I install LED headlights in my A, will I see a reduction of amp use? Just looking to lessen the load on the generator while driving at night. Worth it or not?

Thanks in...

Re: Fix or Replace

Some things you just cant fix back to an original state of condition. Plus a fire can destroy
the whole car. You will be surprised how everything works so much better with a new harness. Bite the...

I think I have one of Mel's first 150 steering box conversions being he did it for my dad back in '95. Works great to this day.

Re: What is average highway speed for the model a?

I drive my car 35 tops. California drivers, traffic, and brakes that do not stop like a 2019 car make me go 30 around town. If they want to pass me, then pass me. My motor was built by a very...

Re: Water Pump Lube/Rust Protection

My fathers Model A sat for 15 years with soluble oil & water. The hoses were just fine. Radiator shop said it's a waste of my money to do anything with the radiator because it's clean as a whistle.

Re: Stuck head

If you use water, you need to add emulsified oil (water pump lube stuff) it will stop this as well as anti-freeze.

Re: Night driving ?

But, some might get carried away with adjusting the third brush to the point that you start burning out bulbs. I run a 6 volt Mel Gross built generator and a electronic cutout which is very durable.

Re: F-100 Ford Steering Box

I can remember when Mel was suggesting to my father to do this upgrade when he was changing out the engine and other worn parts. It was a huge difference. I miss Mel and my father, too great guys.

Re: easy front-end alignment

How do you get the wheels perfectly steered straight to even begin doing this test with accuracy? Or does it matter that you are pointing the car dead on straight?

I use antifreeze 50/50 ratio and then I throw in some soluble oil (water pump lube & corrosion preventer) About 1/2 of the small bottle you buy at the parts store. Said that, I knew many a Model A...

Re: Trans detent problem

The tower is simple to work on and Tom Endy's article on it makes it easy. The only tedious part is welding up the shift forks and getting them back to spec. You know it's a bad thing when you...
