I think that may depend on individual situations. When I installed mine, The woodruff key, castle nut and cotter pin was only needed and the fan fit nice and snug.

I removed the pin and tried snugging the castle nut-no dice! It was not getting any tighter. On to removing the water pump and will try to replace the fan first and see if that will work. Hopefully...

Yes sir-wobble on the shaft. The shaft is intact in does not move.

Wobble. When I grab the fan blade with one hand and the the pulley with the other, they wobble in unison...the water pump shaft doesn't. This is withthe belt very loose (alternator was removed). ...

After removing my alternator and belt removed, when I grab the fan blade, I can slightly wobble the entire fan assy. Is this a potential disaster in the making or is a little play normal? Thanks.

Got it installed however I had to use my original bolt for the bolt supplied with the kit was too long and did not have enough clearance despite removing the lower housing bolt.

Thanks guys. That's the plan; I will be ussing the Blue RTV Gasket Maker. I will also be installing a Mitchell Transmission Dipstick. I like the notion of checking my oil level this way vice...
