I mocked up the stamped bell with the 38 packard junior trans and found I will add a 1/2 inch adapter ( spacer really). It will locate off the original bore in mouth of the bell...

That’s how you stop cracks from growing on aircraft sheet metal. Good point.

I didn’t know if I would be welding and shrinking metal to cause more cracks or extend the crack. I’ll search runout methods.

I did this exactly to my 29 and now I don’t get out and walk away for it with the signals still on.
I run the original ignition and wiring system.

Cas3 is correct about mock up and find the solution. Deuce5window’s suggestion using a stamp is logical for the distance so I appreciate the response of all. I don’t have much experience with forums...

I worked Volvos for a living and know the m40 and 41’s with OD were strong gearboxes. Interesting puttin it on a 240z motor.
I’m considering a 49-53 stamped bell.
