Re: disc brakes & distributor

Hot Rod Works can put rear discs. You have to send them parts of your rear end and they will convert to modern style hubs for $800. Then you can supply rear disc setup. They don't know what will work...

Re: Is this a bad idea?

Drop the pan and clean the sludge. Contrary to the expert opinions gasoline shouldn't be used for anything but driving. Wash parts with something like diesel. It won't catch on fire and explode. I...

Re: 49 rear end

I'm thinking drop the rear end and replace the gaskets and seals on the front of the member where the drive shaft goes in. Have a part number for one of the gaskets. Think that would fix the leaks?

Not flathead but 49 Ford. Supposed to be an 8 inch rear. Car has 94 mustang 302 v8. I'd like to get some seals/gaskets to fix the leaks. Can any of you ID this rear end on my 49 hot rod?

Also a...

Re: project 1934 deluxe coupe

For example Lebaron Bonney who many in the old Ford community depended on for excellent upholstery is no longer open.

Re: gasoline

Cheap for my lawn mowers and weed eaters considering the corn gas destroys the carburetor. Gas station has to put in a separate pump and tank. Must be a regulation thing as alcohol free gas is hard...

Re: gasoline

Sort of ironic, eh? Your ethanol pollutes Texas gasoline and Iowa doesn't have to burn it!

Re: gasoline

Non ethanol gasoline is saturated with water. All the gasoline storage tanks in a refinery have floating roofs and water drains. The floating roof is to minimize evaporation vapor emissions.
But...

"while conventional gasoline can dissolve up to 150 parts per million of water at 70F, the situation is different for gasoline oxygenated with 10% ethanol. This 90% gasoline/10% ethanol blend can...

Re: gasoline

Gasoline with ethanol was never transported by pipeline. A small trace of water in ethanol gas makes it milk colored. It is blended at the local pipeline terminal. Ethanol gasoline is also stored in...

Re: Replacing rings on 1 piston on 8ba

Can replace rings without removing engine. I've done it on a 37 engine. A little hard to get the pan off but it can be done.

Re: Hydraulic brake adjustments.

Good luck with Lockheed brakes. I gave up on them and use repro bendix brakes. Way easier to adjust. Your problem is probably too much air and brake shoe clearance. If you arch the shoes to new drums...

Single stage or base/clear

This question isn't about an old Ford but it could be. I'm buying a 2003 white MR2 and from a different seller a blue hardtop. Will have to paint the hardtop to match. Paint on MR2 is 16 years old...
