Re: transmission output seal replacement - F100 1955

Usually the seal leaks because the extension housing bushing or the drive shaft yoke is worn. Or both.We used to use a tool that would slide over the output shaft and the raised lip on the end would...

Re: Carb, throttle and trans linkage 1965 Falcon C4

If I remember correctly the spring attached to the front of the "intake manifold" cast into the whole cylinder head.

Re: cam question

I've read many posts on numerous sites where "younger" guys question the term 3/4 cam. Like it's been mentioned it was just a term we used to describe a cam back then. To me it's no dumber than...

Re: driveshaft yoke

Usually the seal leaks because the bushing is worn. Should replace both at the same time. The grooved yoke needs to be replaced also.

Re: Removing Automatic Transmission

If the convertor has a drain plug, drain the convertor before you pull it out of the front pump. Draining it first will allow you a better view of exactly where it's leaking. If you don't or can't...

Re: Tips on transmission removal 1954 Ford

I used to do that all the time. Cars & trucks would come in that would no longer crank over due to a chewed up flexplate. Working flat rate you had to finish it as quickly as possible and get it...

Re: Tips on transmission removal 1954 Ford

I was 18 when I converted my 56 Meteor CV from an automatic to a 3sp back in 68'. Did the whole job in the family garage with no hoist, no air tools or even a shop manual. I didn't have to do any...

Re: Clutch Lever Release 65 Falcon

Occasionally the rivets that hold the clutch lever pivot (7522) break off. We used to replace the rivets with a tapered head screw that you could bolt in. Again, you'll have to pull the trans.

Re: 1956 Crown Victoria Data Plate

My Dad worked at a Ford dealer starting in the early 50's. It had been in business for a long time when he started. I'd heard the owner was cranky guy and pretty well off. My Dad and others that...

Re: 1955 ford fairlane town sedan radiator issue.

Re: 1966 Thunderbird 390 4V

Had a 56 Meteor CV back in the day in the same color combination like the Vicky shown there. Had to sell it when I got drafted in '69. It's at the top of the list of "cars I wish I still had".
