Re: 8BA Rear Cam Brg Oil Supply??

Took a different route to correct the situation using an Eastwood zink plating kit.
A felt tip marker was used to coat the areas where no plating was wanted.
A .001 layer of plating was deposited...

Re: 8BA Rear Cam Brg Oil Supply??

Wasn't aware that there was a lubrication problem but it sure looks like the idler/cam gear chamber gets filled up with residual oil from the pump then extra oil seeps out the top and thru the...

Re: 8 ba id

Considering that it appears to be a mishmash of parts then if it has a date code you may be able to determine a date of manufacture but not much more.

Re: Dipstick question

The yellow handle makes sense (I have one) but a yellow band around the tube makes more sense (so you can find the hole ):D:)

Re: Too low of 49 front end

As I recall with wheels on the ground supporting full weight.
Assuming good springs, this is what the normal/stock ride height should be.
Lower 'A' frame, outer pivot points one inch lower than...

Re: 8BA/EAB Flathead Rebuilder Northeast?

Have had Eastwood Machine grind crank and balance all components.
Give them a call to see what they offer to satisfy your needs.

Re: Axle Quick fix seals which direction?

Have to agree.
The instructions on the quick seal box indicate that the original seal/grease retainer has to be removed anyway to give access to the axle housing race....

Re: 8CM or EAB cam for 260" Merc?

As stated you most likely won't notice any difference.
For reference the 8CM specs. (.338) lift.
You could measure the EAB just to see how they compare in that feature.

Re: Oil pan baffels ?

Never thought of the horizontal plate in the Merc. pan as a 'baffle', but a 'windage tray' that keeps the crank assembly from churning up the oil.

Re: Dipstick for my 53' Mercury

Re: 1939 Ford-Mercury door pillar

Seriously doubt that you will find any replacement sections and even if you did you would still have to cut and fit.
If you have the tools to install a new ready made section then to me the best...

The upper hose is a 90 deg. formed elbow and I have never seen a specified length for them.
They are available at various vendors.
18 inches is a starting point but you have to consider that each...

From one 'octogenarian' to another, I have used round rod many times to measure dissimilar surfaces while using flat anvil measuring devices.

Re: newer two BBL carb

The only thing that I can think of in a carburetor that would be affected by 'new' gas would be any rubber parts.
Other than that, can't see that the performance would be affected.

Re: Disc trimer /cutter

This one that is available is a little different than the one I used years ago in the body shop.
As stated aviation snips work well considering the $200+ price tag.

Re: wheel paint

Seem to recall that they were painted by the wheel provider to Ford by dipping them, thus the appearance of runs on some. The paint used was self priming and did not need primer.
