Re: model a amp meter

Of the ammeter? It doesn't matter, just reverse them if you are doing this specific test.

Re: Clutch replacement costs...

It is cheaper if you embrace the hobby and learn to do the repairs in your garage.

If you don't want to damage paint don't use lacquer thinner!

Re: model a amp meter

Ok now hook up a headlight, even temporary and turn it on, and tell us what the ammeter shows. My bet is the meter is hooked up in reverse.

Re: Help! Tie rod end install

OK after going back to the photos I'll ask if maybe the zerk fitting is interfering with the spring bottoming?

Re: Help! Tie rod end install

Are you sure there isn't something else jammed in the tie rod end? was the old tie rod original to that car?

Re: model a amp meter

Either the generator is faulty or the meter or battery is backward.

Re: Help! Tie rod end install

Maybe a call to Snyder's is warranted, or hit it harder with your rubber mallet. Ive always used the era Bulldog kits and the springs were pretty stiff in those kits also.

Re: Help! Tie rod end install

How do the new parts compare to the old in length. Things look about right. Is there any gunk or debris in the tie end.

Are the springs and cups in the right way? I leave the ends off until it is over the ball.

Re: Clutch replacement costs...

I always wonder what the Ford shop flat rate and time estimates were back in the 1930s.

Re: Clutch replacement costs...

What are the symptoms of your problem? Slipping? Grabbing? Or maybe only needing adjustment?

$35. is fair for a good head. A rebuildable bare block $100.

Re: Model T Sparkplugs

Do you have any evidence to support your opinion? I use X in the T, and 3X in my A and they run better than other plugs I have used.

Re: Towed car lost lots of fluids

It can happen in an A because there is no seal at that location, especially if the crankcase is full or over filled.

Re: Towed car lost lots of fluids

Gas will leak if it is not shut off or the valve is bad. the oil most likely was from the rear main.
