Re: 1948 ford convertible garnish molding question

Along this line, you might be able to use the windshield welting from 1940. Don't know if it's still available, but Roy Nacewicz had it.

Re: WWII gas ration sticker placement?

Early in the war, citizens were asked to turn in their spare tires to aid the war effort. An immense pile was collected on the athletic field at Fort Snelling in Minneapolis. They remained there...

Re: WWII gas ration sticker placement?

As I understand it, there was never shortage of gas in the western states, but the program was made nationwide so as not to seem discriminatory against the other regions. Also, rationing was aimed at...

Re: steering columm bushing

A few years ago, I used a Timken/Torrington BA-1210 Needle Bearing inside 1.25"x1.437"x1.5" and 1"x1.25"x1" bronze sleeves for my '40. Total cost at a local bearing supply house was $6.31.

Re: 35 Ford Wont Crank

As Kurt in NJ says, the starter may be jammed in the flywheel. If rocking the car in high gear doesn't free it, hit it (the starter, that is) a couple of times with a hammer. It won't hurt it.

Re: 6 volt coil wiring

The distributor completes the circuit by going to ground when the points close, so it's the positive wire.

Re: Are the front seats from a 40 Tudor and Coupe the same?

Believe they're the same, except the Tudor seats have foot rests.

Re: LED Dash light conversion

If your main objective is brighter dash lights, consider bypassing the dimmer switch. It's often the cause of poor lighting.

Re: 1946 Mercury/Ford Dash Light Switch Removal.

If it's anything like the Ford dimmer switch, the gauges are distinctly visible to the naked eye at its highest setting. I bypassed mine long ago.

Re: Spark plug terminals in Helmet dizzy cap?

I'm with ford38v8. Having just recently replaced the plug wires in my '40, I don't see how it could be done without totally redesigning the caps.
