Stripped the axle out the left side of the casing. The job went well.

Pulled the left half shaft (literally half in this case)

Amazingly it had broken where someone had...

I'd tend to use 5 balls, four just inside the outer edge and one in the middle. this will give an indication whether the dome shape matches the heads. for example French pistons have a pointy dome...

Without the strength of the axle shaft to hold it straight, the clearance in the bearing allows some wobble. I wonder if the offset of the wheel in combination with the not so well supported hub...

I took my 41 pickup to a classic car meeting yesterday afternoon. On the way home, I was pulling away from a junction, when suddenly I wasn't. There was an almighty Bang! and no drive in any gear.

F100, F1, Hudson and Nash can all be made to work. NealinCA on this forum and the HAMB is the go-to guy for converted boxes.

FWIW the French motors, though they do have some 8BA characteristics do not use the 8BA rear main. 59A type fit.

Yes, possibly some misinformation being passed here.

All the wide 5s were 4", except the V860s which were 3.5", but the 36 didn't get the V860 so should have the 4" wheels.

If you have a mechanical oil pressure gauge, fill it with 4 quarts and see if you get any oil pressure dropoff when cornering sportily. Uphill too if possible. See if you get any dropoff after 10...

Yeah, it's pressed in, but you can pull them out and use conventional separate ferrules. I found they worked better with the conventional ferrule.

The fitting shown has the ferrule already fitted into the nut. In my experience they are not as good as a separate nut and conventional olive. (Olive = ferrule). You can remove the captive ferrule...

Forespeed, they will work in your application, but someone has already fitted a seal in that location. That is not the factory seal. You need to dig out what has been fitted already so you can fit...

Like in the 2nd or right hand pic. In that pic it is not pushed all the way in, though. It wants to be pushed as far in as it will go.

I use a load leveller and use 4 long bolts in the rearmost and frontmost two manifold bolt holes.

I lengthened the chains slightly so I can leave the dual 94s on the thickstun hi-rise in place.

Almost. You can make it work. The flange where it meets the cowl sides is angled on non pickup and 90 degrees to the fender on a pickup.

Other than that, it is the same, or at least will work. ...
