Interesting thing is that I never noticed this "hole" in the block for my 1930 Canadian Roadster when the motor was overhauled in 2012 (Canadian engine)

I thought so, but the hole looks really crappy and rough edges, like something foreign punched it out.

I recently removed the side panel from my Town Sedan motor and discovered what looks like a hole in the side of the block from the valves area to the crankshaft fiber gear.

Hole size is about 2" X...

Follow-up:
Side panel was removed - no sludge found
Found about 1/4" or so of sludge in the oil pan which was cleaned up after the baffle was removed

Ordered a new oil pump screen

No Thermostat


Never measured fuel mileage. Only put 1,900 mile on it since I got it in 2009.


I do know short trips does not help

Just for your information, Canadian Model A 1930 - 31 did not come with a patent plate on the firewall.


1928's had a patent plate and it was sometime in 1929 it was dropped.
