That is what made the most difference for me. I think mounting pump and stand as a unit might not allow seating the rod to the pump cup accurately.

It is an Offenhauser for the latter block. The engine was rebuilt before I bought it. The push rod is new, pump and stand are old. Are the 8CM and 8BA pumps interchangeable?

I am having the same problem with my 1950 8CM and an after market 2x2 intake. My pump with stand won't sit flat even with the push rod in it's lowest position.
