As a starting point, I'd suggest a set of UNC and UNF taps and dies. (Unified National Coarse and Unified National Fine). That should do you except for those strange "gauge threads" no one else...

You don't need to open the slot very far at all - just enough to break the grip between the lever and the shaft. One tap on a chisel or screw driver in the slot should do it.

Wouldn't you need to change the coil and globes to 12 v versions and drop 12 volts to 6 for the horn? The horn will work on 12 volts but it sounds more like a scream, or was that my wife?

The bearing number for what I'm using is NU 1010. The dynamic load rating is 42.5 Kn (4,333 Kg or 9,500 pounds) which will be plenty, I think (hope) bearing mind there will be 3 in each hub.

I'm due to pickup the bearings today. Fortunately, the supplier is located on my way to a friend's palce who will do the machining for me. We'll have to turn down the trumpet to take the inner part...

Everybody seems to blame those who make this rubbish but I think the problem is as much with the owners of these cars and the vendors who accept it...

Tom, with my conversion, the rollers will not run on the axle housing hubs. They are a complete bearing with inner and outer tracks.
I'd be happy to use the original setup if the new hubs or the...

I have them on order and will post the numbers for you when I get them. Strangely, there are two suppliers. One is Japanese (FBJ) and the other, German (FAG). They are at opposite ends of the price...
