Re: Model A standard registration in Pa.

If the insurance company won't cover an accident because you weren't using it as it was registered it could cost you a lot!

Re: Seat belts - to be or not to be?

Someone did an article on shoulder belts in a roadster. Might try it in my coupe.

Re: What strange comments or questions have you heard about your Model A

I one time let a guy get in and try to start it, he didn't have a clue.
I had let my father-in-law start it. He had had a roadster. Did everything from memory and correctly!

Re: Weld and grind roller tracks

When the brakes are at rest, the head of the roller pin rests on the track. When the brakes are activated the pin moves outward. How far does it move? 1/8 inch?

Re: Weld and grind roller tracks

I'll probably get in trouble for this but I'm not a break guy.
If you center or arch the shoes perfectly, then put the drum on and turn the adjustment wedge even one click, don't you change...

Re: Weld and grind roller tracks

Because I left the cams in place I can't get a 4 1/5" angle grinder on it. I will try the cut-off wheel.

Weld and grind roller tracks

I welded up my rear roller tracks and need to grind them flat. What do I use? A straight file?

Re: Terriable backfiring

With mine it was rust in the tank. Put the filter in the tank and a strong magnet on the outside.
Never has backfired since.

Re: Drinking Problem

Mine leaks when it's running but not in the garage. Try leaving it running in the driveway with cardboard under it.

Re: Battery-Harness

I tied baling twine around mine like doing up a package, all 4 sides. Then I just lift it out.

Re: Finger Pulls

Found them on Bratton's site, part # 28380, but have never seen them in use.
Try calling Bratton's.

Re: Finger Pulls

It might be nice to ask for clarification of the question.
On my 1930 Coupe there is nothing called a finger pull.
What body style do you have?

Re: HELP! I can't start my 28 roadster!

My gas lever is at 2:30-3 position.
If not timed right fully retarded (up) may not be right, try pulling it down when it begins to start.

Re: Thermostat?

I use a 160. I do mostly short drives and want it to heat up fast to burn off junk.
180 was to close to the boiling point.

Increasing your engine speed while sitting will move more coolant.

Re: Why do you like your car.

I have to start by saying what you said not to "Dad bought it" before I was born. Some of my earliest memories are Mom driving us three boys around in it, and it's a coupe with a trunk, no rumble...

Re: oil filter kit?

They put a tube from where the oil comes into the front chamber that carries it to the filter and then it drains back into the chamber.

Re: Fuse block ideas

Bratton's sells one called an A-Plate that attached to the inside of the firewall. A little bit hard to get to for me.
